Yay Dance!

Except I'm somewhat puzzled by the group's, how are Kaitlyn and Jean Luc on Group 5? And Ivan and Sasha Stepanova only in Group 6 out of 7?

Super happy Charlene and Marco are in the final flight though!

Insanity. That’s the only answer.

The presence of Hawayek/Baker in Group 5 and Stepanova/Bukin in Group 6 is explained by the standard draw procedure for ISU Championships, which takes ISU World Standings into account.

Dance has 32 entries, so the 16 who are higher in World Standings are in the "skating later" half.
In the last group, Group 7, are the five couples who are very highest in WS. Skate order within Group 7 was determined by draw.
In the penultimate group, Group 6, are the five couples who are next highest in WS. Skate order within Group 6 was determined by draw.
For Group 5 + the last slot in Group 4 (meaning a total of six slots), there was a draw among the remaining six entries in the "skating later" half.

On the ISU World Standings list, the order of Worlds entries from the "skating later" half is:
- Sinitsina/Katsalapov; Guignard/Fabbri; Hubbell/Donohue; Gilles/Poirier; Chock/Bates -- who all are in Group 7;
- Stepanova/Bukin; Fear/Gibson; Wang/Liu, Hurtado/Khaliavin; Kaliszek/Spodyriev -- who all are in Group 6;
- Hawayek/Baker; Lajoie/Lagha; Zagorski/Guerreiro; Reed/Ambrulevicius; Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen; Galyavieva/Thauron -- who were in the draw for Group 5 + the last slot in Group 4.

By luck of the draw, Zagorski/Guerreiro ended up in the last slot in Group 4 -- but it just as easily could have been Hawayek/Baker.

Thanks for the info! I just thought they might have higher scores than they obviously do. I should link that World Standings site to keep in the know.

I'm here.... much too early. Whoops. Guess I'll do some more work on my vacation day. ;-)
:laugh: I did that yesterday, I forgot that I have both the times in Stockholm and Moscow in my phone so got to the men's thread two hours early!

Hi everyone !!! Hope we have a great rhythm dance today !

Also, can anyone explain the Olympic qualifying system for ice dancing this cycle ? What place does a couple have to achieve to earn a spot?

Charlene and Marco, Lila and Lewis, Piper and Paul, Allison and Saulius, Shiyue and Xinyu and of course Sasha and Ivan for the reasons you all well know :LOL:
Excellent choices!

I'm excited for Shiyue and Xinyu their Charlie Chaplin program is so amazing!

I wonder if there's anyone doing some far out musical for the RD...

Lila and Lewis were doing Blues Brothers in pants last season, and a couple of teams chose some lgbt+ themed musical but in a sort of bachelorette party version :cautious: is this considered far out?

Not sure...

I don't actually know that many musicals? Is anyone doing Hamilton? It's playing right here in Sydney and I'm going with my mother to see it next month :biggrin:

Except Florent A. He had many an interesting choice...and now he does choreo it continues. He gave Brendan Kerry some very interesting stuff ;)

I've just remembered that Ivan B had to change his suit jacket :( Obviously it's easier to skate in, but those tails! 🥰
