2023-24 Japanese Nationals: General Info

I don't really do Christmas, but it's summer here, so we will be taking the pups out for a picnic (Japanese food in a basket lol) for Christmas lunch followed by a healthy Christmas dinner and opening presents. Will watch J Nats live/on demand when I can. That's assuming I don't have to work. I enjoy seeing skaters who rarely (if ever) get the opportunity to compete outside Japan, but there is a lot of drama, so a glass of calming something-or-other (or ice cream!) is mandatory.

Good for you! Sorry about the work business. I had to do it for 30 years. And every other week I was on call for emergencies. It will go away eventually. With all our normal XMAS dinner old peoples' family now gone due to covid and other terrible things, we will have a quiet dinner at home with the 3 dogs....(Ice cream is a food group and margarittas, if they are 100 percent blue agave, are a fruit) Eat Healthy. Go Japan!

Honestly, not thinking about it seems to be the way to go! I thought of mentioning ice dance, that could be a mini-bloodbath too!

I will feel bad about those that make mistakes for sure but not having a ton of real favorites, loving them all, makes the emotions easier....

See, this is where you are so privileged and I envy you If it was up to me, Japan would have at least 8 spots in Men and Women, I'm not even joking...

I'm saying this because last year it was quite difficult to sneak out to watch the Men's free skate on Christmas Eve, watch that whole chaotic event unfold, then having to go back to the family and pretend nothing had happened LMAO

Thankfully JNats are on so late at night here that they occur long after any obligatory family gatherings...although I do have to consider whether I have anything of importance to do the next day or not.

I will feel bad about those that make mistakes for sure but not having a ton of real favorites, loving them all, makes the emotions easier....best wishes to everyone out there on the ice and have fun...for all glory is fleeting....and feel the love people have for you.

It is indeed true that all skaters are beautiful in their own way and that they ought to be loved equally...But I have gotten very attached to a certain skater and I hope my heart can handle their performances this year...

My main wish for JNats is for all the skaters to be healthy and injury-free!

It is a gift from my Gods that I love them all....the first worlds I attended was LA 2009. If you look at the list of Ladies, et al, you will see legends to me... Japanese/Asian names....that taught me where artistry was born..... 25+ events national and international later, (and my pocket book diminished accordingly) my heart hasnt changed. I loved seeing Four Conts live this year, from the front row with my friend PaulE. And now I am going to see such beautiful, artistic, powerful Japanese skating....its almost like XMAS.....

I plan to watch the SP/RD draw and post as Start Orders are being confirmed

I'll likely create a placeholder listing entries in Japanese "alphabetical order" (as they are currently listed on the Results page) then edit that post as numbers are drawn/called out
Edited lists will show the number pulled by a skater next to their name but will initially be out of numerical order

After the draw is completely over, I will re-edit and post proper, final SP/RD Start Orders for each discipline
