Alena was 3rd at Moscow Cup with 185 points. She attempted 3lz+3lo in both programs, it was decent but a little shaky in the free, but in the short she fell and her loop was downgraded.

Wonder how she will fare coming weekend.

Her skates in the last few domestic competitions since JGPF weren't entirely convincing.

She is younger than the 3A, aka "Visitors from the Future", but already much taller.

Alёna has been a medallist in a couple of domestic competitions since and had won the SP in the latest 2 wks ago when she had to withdraw.

As for height, yes, in the trio at Vancouver, she does look lanky, but when Maya stepped alongside Alёna recently, not so much. And then when Viktoriia S stepped up alongside Maya last week, wow, even Maya looked tiny. (Of course, Vika is much older, so those other two may well catch up or overtake her.)

67.66 in the sp. She did pretty well, but her combo was ur. That being said, she is great, and I love her skating. Good luck in the free!!!

Such a shame for the UR 3Lz but she‘s a great skater nonetheless and that was a wonderful SP. She seems to have grown quite a bit recently so congrats for keeping it together and still skating so well. I hope she‘ll have an amazing FS tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

112.72 points in the fs, Alena is now in 5th with one group left. It's a shame, she's been doing really well all season, missing the 3T really hurt her score. Imho, she was robbed of a few points, it's so rare to see skaters use their toepick nowadays, but she does.

Alёna will no doubt be feeling a little disappointed, although the competition was bound to be stiff, what with the form of her club-mate Ksenia, Eteri's three and Davydov's two, all peaking around now.

Still, it is always a great pleasure to watch Alёna's short and long programmes, even with occasional weaknesses. Great edges and she has a good ear for the music and beautiful controlled arm work, both features she shares with Anna Shch. I expect good things from her next season, with the three As out of the way :)

For deft toe work, take a look at Tat's partner here, Proskurin.

Yah, she shouldn't despair at only 13 years of age. Her time will surely come if she perseveres and slowly and steadily improves. She has a good team of equal age girls around her at Snow Leopards, both to challenge each other, and to have fun with.

She was the tallest of the three Russians that medaled in JGPF, despite being the youngest. But tall looking skaters like Tarusina and Tarakanova prove that -not being short- still makes you a competitive skater. And Alyona can 'look up' to Viktoriya Safonova, who actually is a tall skater that still gets excellent results.

I really don’t think she’s that tall, Kostornaia is just super short for her age. Either way, it’s better for Alena to go through her adjustment period now/during the off-season while she’s still got another year in juniors. Then she can be fully adjusted to any body changes before making her senior debut.

Here is the medal ceremony. Ksenia bronze. Alёna silver, You gold.

Super FS skate by Alёna, and a nice buck to her after her recent illness and a couple of slightly disappointing results.

There is a rumor that he left Panova to leave with ... "Tutberidze" She leaves Panova may be possible, but that he leaves with Tutberidze ??? If that miracle happens, Tutberidze would have 3 more skaters to dominate the season until they meet Liu and have to master 3A or quads to defeat her.
