This would be the worst idea in the world, but I'd kinda like to see T/M do their FS to two totally different kinds of music, but with the same program. Like only the music would be different. What would happen? Would I enjoy the funky version more than classical despite the exact same elements being performed at the exact same time? And vice versa for most others. It'd be an interesting if impractical experiment!

How about different versions of the same music, funky for SP and classical for FS?

nobody skates on madonna!!!!! was she popular back in the days? in her 3 decades long career she changed style so many times that you can basically do any kind of program just picking from her discography!

I hope a dance team does pretty much anything Sondheim with the exception of Send in the Clowns. I can think of a few teams that could probably do lovely work with some medley from Company.

You know, I think it would be nice if someone used the interstellar soundtrack, some nice, dramatic music in there. I like "Cornfield Chase" and "Time".

1. More David Bowie! Let's Dance (my namesake ) could make a very fun short. Space Oddity, Life on Mars, Starman and more are all extremely cool, fresh, and full of life.
Here a free dance to a mixtape version of Space Oddity (and Starman). It's not the best I could think of for a Bowie program, but the midline step sequence is quite epic.

2. Jules Massenet's Manon for a free dance program. The famous British ballet choreographer Kenneth MacMillan was inspired by ice skating when he choreographed a full-length ballet using this music (and therefore incorporated some moves quite difficult to do on land lol), and being a ballet fan I always wanted to see this translated back on ice. The bedroom pas de deux has music with varying rhythm and emotional colors, and the sections starting at 0:10, 3:20, and 4:25 could all be very nice for step sequences, with some dramatic repercussions for big lifts  I'd like to see a pair with power and theatricality to do it. (Maybe Nguyen/Kolesnik, or Hawayak/Baker if they ever want to change their style :))

3. A contemporary ballet program (or more!) for Nathan Chen. I'd like to see him do a modern interpretation of Bach for SP, preferably Chaconne or Cello Suites in the style of Forsythe's Artifact Suite (https://youtu.be/BFZsUev6jm4). And I also want to see a free skate using music from Balanchine ballets, in the vein of the choreographic idea in the Four Temperaments:

Check the corp de ballet at 3:29 and male solo at 8:46. I mean, look at those costumes! It just calls out for Nathan Chen:laugh:
(I'd also appreciate another Stravinsky program in his cool, neoclassical style)
(I also want to see him tango but that's just a personal obsession)

4. Les Nuages by Debussy from Papadakis/Cizeron (start watching at 1:30)
https://youtu.be/PsXOJVBAVdk

I know, I know, I'm biased toward ballets and classical music/classic rock. That's my division of the diversity of ideas here lol

Chattanooga Choo Choo, from Sun Valley Serenade. With a tap routine!

In pairs, or ice dance. Or maybe Nathan could pull it off.

So I'm going to need someone to do a short program to Willow by Jasmine Thompson. I would've said Anna Shcherbakova but she already has a sp, and this isn't long enough for a fp. Maybe Alina could do it :)

i love your suggestions! :luv17: and i totally agree with more bowie! what about Labyrinth? you could make a funny program out of it! Manon is one of my favourite ballets! the swamp pas de deux could be also great for a free dance, passionate, dramatic and she dies in the end. to stay in the royal ballet area Mayerling and Frankenstein could provide good material for intense and dramatic programs (even if i think that the one and only prince Rudolf si Edward Watson)

Thanks for the appreciation haha And yes, Manon offers quite a few wonderful passages for ice skating (I would love to see the “notorious” Manon slide performed on ice for once!) , and Mayerling is such a powerhouse for dark drama! I haven’t seen Frankenstein yet, having missed the broadcast :(

And I’ll just repeat this: Ed Watson is the one and only Prince Rudolf!

I'm not sure that this counts as 'wishlist' but last night I had a skating dream. I think it might have been Nathan Chen (and I'm not even a fan! but who can control their dreams?) and the music was, ummm..... this.

Automatic Writing by Robert Ashley, which I actually do like a whole lot - it does fire the imagination - and in the dream it really really worked, heaven and my subconscious knows how.

(Mind you, part of me really wants someone to do an exhibition to Cage's 4'33" - the heavy metal version on youtube - so I suspect this all says more about me than the skaters)

I have two big wishes:
- for Keiji Tanaka to skate to 'The Godfather'
- and for Kazuki Tomono to skate to 'Singing in the Rain'
May either or both happen

Loena Hendrickx skated to "Frozen" during the PC olympic season as her SP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWsWbq9f1aU

Oksana Baiul and others skated to Madonna in the past.
