Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova assessed the prospects for the performance of figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva at the Russian Cup

“I do not yet know what decision Brian Orser will come to (regarding the stages of the Russian Cup for Evgenia Medvedeva. - RT ), but, of course, he will express his wishes on this score. Brian sees all our training, we are constantly in touch. In training, Zhenya is already doing full skates of both programs - both short and free. I do not exclude that she will want to compete in the Russian Cup at the early stages so that she can go to Canada to train right after them, if there is such an opportunity. But we haven't talked about it yet. We continue to ride and prepare for preseason rentals, "Tarasova said in an interview with RT.

Currently, Medvedeva is training in Moscow due to the inability to fly to Canada.

Full skates of both programs is so promising given the circumstances! I love how Zhenya brought TAT out of retirement.

Olympic Russia has finally posted the long awaited Q&A with Zhenya, where she answers fan questions. I will post translations as soon as I can find some.

Full Q&A:

Zhenya says in the Q&A that she will write a book after ending her competitive career :coffee:
Zhenya already has two exercises named after her at TCC.

Someone is translating the full Q&A. Will take some time until it is completed

I love her Q&A, especially the part about writing her memoirs after retirement (I made a post last month basically saying I hope she does exactly that )

It's always a pleasure to hear what she has to say, she's so articulate and sincere

I'm so happy that she will write her autobiography. :yahoo: She has not settled on a title for her book. What should she name it?.

Zhenya’s Russian Cup events assignments:

Syzran (18-22 September)
Moscow (10-13 October)

Honestly, I am kind of disappointed that she going to the first two stages. I know she wants to go back to Canada as soon as possible, however, even if the borders are open she cannot take part in Skate Canada due to quarantine and she would have to fly back to Russia for Rostelecom Cup + RusNats so at the end she would go through quarantine multiple times. Would prefer if she stayed in Moscow and choose maybe one of the later stages.
I saw someone mentioning on Twitter that all skaters who train abroad are assigned to the first two stages, maybe it was their choice or RusFeds.

I wanted her to do the first cup and she probably wanted to do the Moscow cup. Tat wanted these 2 for her. I have mixed feelings about her going to Canada. She seems really happy being back in Moscow. And she can do the Denis Ten challenger, which she was sad about missing last year.

I see that we have yet to see how the stages will be completed. Surely more EG girls will be assigned to the stages with Zhenya.

I wish her the best and that she archieves qualify for RusNats.

The GP if it is done is a circus. As Tracy already said with the current conditions the qualification to an eventual GPF will not be fair.

I doubt that it was even in their plan to go to skate canada, yes orser said they would look after test skatebut that was before it was decided that they would need to paricipate in2 cup stages to get a ticket for rusnats. as we have already discussed this situation , that this would be just not good, because it would take to much time . It didn't make any sense for her to get to canada , quarantine then have i dont now hoe much time to again train after 2 weeks of beeing of ice again, then skate canada, the go back to russia again 2 weeks without beeing on ice, this year the gp is not important, their probably will not be any euros or worlds, the onky thing that is important are the national competition this season

The gpf was supposed to be in Beijing, and i doubt it would happen in this situation we are in atthe moment, so in my eyes the gp is absolutely not important this year

I agree with you about GP. This year the most important is RusNats.
