p/c said "It’s a pity that the jury did not give the scores that we feel deserved!" to the media..
any thoughts on this?
So you think there's only a push on PCS? Let me tell you about the time they had to find the winners of the SD at Euros hours after the competition because the TP made a mistake and another team with vested interest made some calls...
If you have a friend at the panel, you have a friend. Last year's WC showed that more than anything.
I think it's all about those programs. Even with a major mistake C/L still beat them. That, then, can only be about the programs. The judges prefer the Chaplin program.
I on the other hand do not.
Two evenings ago something very strange happened, technical specialists and judges being called while dining to show a mistake NO ONE of them had seen, after a phone call to the Fench technical specialist.
Given the panel and the absurd scores of this SD, I would rather say some judges did not want to see it otherwise I wonder about their technical skills - also considering all the video tools which are provided to them to check closely any move on the ice.
We were seated behind the technical panel and we could see - for both SD & FD and for the top3 couples - the russian tech Specialist and his french Assistant having endless discussions and clear disagreements. I don't know if Roxane (the french tech Assistant) did it intentionally but it was so easy for the audience located behind the panel to understand the situation given Roxane's head movements. I can confirm the italian tech controller was called hence permanently involved in the discussions. She actually played a major role and a bad game here as well together with the tech specialist.
Well, in any case, after the SD, we clearly understood there was a "big push" against P/C. It was obvious Gaby and Guillaume had very few chances to win the title, whatever performance they would deliver. Before the FD, I actually posted a message in the thread dedicated to them to warn the fans about the situation. In the end, Gabriella and Guillaume delivered a tremendous performance, by far their best FD performance this season. Luca and Anna made some errors as for Ekaterina and Dimitri, they skated very slowly, just my personal impression, but I had the feeling they were not physically ready.
The final scores are completely fake. P/C performance was significantly underscored. C/L performance was significantly over scored. As for B/S, I think it's more or less OK even though they are weird GOEs as well. But honestly, what a mess!!
Last but not least, it's very important to say the skaters have nothing to do whatsoever with this attempt to cheat. The fact is "other people" use them like toys.
Ekaterina, Dimitri, Anna and Luca are fantastic skaters and competitors. They worked hard to perform their great programs. I love them. As for Gaby and Guillaume, they did the same. They made their FD more complex especially with additional transitions. They are lovely and so humble young champions. It was so nice to see Gaby and Guillaume having cool & fun discussions with Anna and Luca just before the victory ceremony. Luca and Guillaume know each other very well since a long time. The first times Guillaume started to skate in Lyon, Luca was extremely nice to help and host him. They are very good friends.
I agree with you alainfr06. As much as I like them all, the judging is a bit nonsense sometimes. It was B/S's and P/C's best performance of the season by a mile and they got lower scores than what they should have received. It was not C/L's greatest performance of the season and they got a season best.
I don't recall the judging being so obviously biased towards a particular team. And what annoys me is that C/L will receive hate, and there is nothing they can do about it, they don't judge themselves.
If you watch the press conference and all, they all seem to get along, and honestly skaters get along very well in spite of the judging because they know it won't change a thing.
Hoping for all these 3 teams to skate lights out at worlds. Despite all of that, I truly enjoyed them all !
Clear, same feeling here.I don't recall the judging being so obviously biased towards a particular team.
That was exactly my point. Now, I expect people in this forum to not fall into such obvious trap. Anna and Luca have nothing to do with this awful story. I will fully support them at the Worlds. They are among the key ice dance contributors since a long time. And what annoys me is that C/L will receive hate, and there is nothing they can do about it, they don't judge themselves.
Are you sure about the hate? Could you realize the warmest welcome Capellini/Lanotte got in the Arena? The situation actually made myself to root on them first time in my (long) life.....
This was hardly the first time that country politics have come into play in figure skating, and it certainly won't be the last. I'm always surprised at everyone else's surprise when things like this happen. This is the sport that still allows Didier (mastermind behind 2002 Olympics pairs scandal) to not only come back after a 3 year ban but be President of the French fed as well...
Sure, it's not the first time but it was so ostensibly "organised". Usually, "they" at least try to make it not that obvious.
As for Didier, AFAIK, he was almost the only one to be sanctioned in the last 30 years. A bit weird, don't you think? And, did you see anyone screaming in the FS world when he became President of the french fed afterwards ? No...
