I mean... you're correct that Gabriella and Guillaume could get another medal than silver...
They certainly could win the FD at Olympics, as they have a better program than V&M.

Actually think the key to P/C's success this season will be their short program. If they pull off a lively, sexy and precise SP and have that as a contrast to their big romantic LP they'll give V/M a run for their money
+10 PCS for skating to Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed that. I think she really lives that music.
I could see them as Mr. Bingley and Jane
The film score not a patch on Carl Davis's original music for the BBC series from 1995. The best dramatisation of P&P ever! There's only one Mr Darcy and that's Colin Firth. Plus Kavita & Joti's costumes didn't reflect the century the story is set in. All wrong! But I like this couple.
Well, he's tall with dark hair, but he doesn't have a "hot" face.
I would not use the word tacky either. Ewan McGregor's singing is pedestrian, but it worked in the context of a schmaltzy pastiche film (which I really enjoyed). I think of Scott and Tessa as legends of the sport, so the music choice is not ideal. Having said that their A++ skating and dancing elevates the piece--just not to classic program levels. I similarly thought that the Sam Smith part of their FD cheapened the overall effect but I would never call them tacky.

Not sure how the Russian team's program was at all connected to Chicago, but he's really good.
It's obvious that there is still so much that you don't know about ice dancing. How the technical panels give levels to step sequences has nothing to do with whether the steps are faster/more energetic or slower, and/or whether you or the specialists on the technical panel like them skating on faster music more than on slower music. It doesn't work that way at all. There are specific rules and details about assigning levels to step sequences which have nothing to do with personal preferences. Levels are given for the precision of edges/clear (deep) edges in each step of the sequence (in the SD also timing is very important). Tessa had a vsible bobble in the Cist (she very likely was so much into the emotion of the program that she lost concentration for a moment there), that's why they got level 3 for it. I did not see why they got level 3 for the Dist, but some people on FSUniverse (I think) saw a tiny bobble also there. In any case, it doesn't even have to be a visible stumble or anything, a non-clear edge from one of the partners on one step is enough to not receive level 4.Weirdly enough I find a contradiction with the FD : it starts very strong, athletic, acrobatic, but I wonder if the step sequences are properly placed in the programm. They attack those sequences with a slightly slower music : the Cist on the slower part of Roxanne and the Dist on Come What May. The thing is, they are excellent with steps when the music is fast (just look at the SD), so it gives a contrast when it's slower (and it gets better once the music is faster). I think that's why they got 2 level 3's (not just because of the bobble on the Cist, it actually felt a tiny bit slower).
Just my 2 cents.

What? Cappellini and Lanotte? Are they often overscored?
Okay, in that case, of course, I am sorry for assuming.I've skated (Ice Dance exclusively) 10 years. My former coach is also an international Technical Specialist. I know a bit (Okay I'm bragging with the 2nd part, that doesn't mean anything, and I'm not trying to pick a fight don't worry )
Probably I am remembering something wrong, but I think the part about speed has to do with GOE, not levels. In any case, I did not think that Tessa and Scott were slow. But the step sequences in their FD are quite difficult, and most likely can't be skated with much more speed. Not all step sequences designed for level 4 are equally difficult, that much I know. And Tessa and Scott haven't gone the easiest way in this FD, especially with the Cist.In the rulebook it's said that in order to reach level4 it's clear steps, deep edges etc, but I remember seeing that you have to keep the speed during the step sequece (either you gain speed or you don't lose it). And I found that the Dist was a bit slower than what I could have imagined from V/M (I didn't find this in Latch for example, in the construction of it) and that was maybe why they got level3 even though it was very clean(I didn't see a bobble, maybe the camera angle made us not see it ?). Nothing to do with personal preference of course, I actually really liked the performance. And I didn't mean slower/faster step actually, I was really talking about keeping the speed, I think I was a bit misunderstood.
