Didn't realise she was the defending champion.

And in case anybody is wondering why the commentator said this is Alena's last Universiade, when she is 26 and the age limit is 28, it is because the age limit is being lowered after this year.

What a delightful surprise from the unknown Japanese skater named Hinano ISOBE who just placed 16th at Nationals this season. Her jump rotations looked tight, but I didn't expect this much in this competition honestly speaking although the skaters from Russia are all surreal. She has nice SS and beautiful lines. According to her ISU Bio, she has not competed internationally since 2012.

Hang on. I just realised that the Time Schedule I linked to is out of date.

Here is the new one, with 6 groups instead of 5:

Despite what the numbers may indicate, it is still the same skaters in the same order. The discrepency is because Miroslava HRINAKOVA is now number 10 instead of number 9.

No, I don't understand it either.

It would be a tight schedule for Dasa who also competed at Euro less than a week ago.

I guess I need to wait for about one and a half hour to see Liza.

Just looked at her Stats On Ice Bio, and that's right enough. The only international competitions she has done are:

2011 Triglav Trophy in Slovenia (Novice)
2011 Asian Trophy in China (Junior)
2012 JGP Bled Cup in Slovenia (Junior)

Considering her lack of experience on the international stage, she did very well to lead. But, I don't think it will be for much longer.
