Pessimist. That's how the realist is called by optimist (© by sir Humphrey Appleby )

Wow! It was great Flanker! :cool2:

But Sasha and her new team are in port of Southampton yet. ;) And they will miss the Titanic

Mishin's team will not go to Kislovodsk; they'll start training at home from next Monday.

I really really really want a skater from the Snow Leopards to do exceptionally well in the coming season.

Let's hope we'll see Kseniya Sinitsyna soon. She and #TeamPanova have been very quiet during all the quarantine.

Last season she and her trainer travelled to the USA to stage those beautiful programs. Will they travel again or stay closer to home for new programs for this season, so many uncertainties, but Kseniya might want new programs?

Regarding what Trusova's parents did... I can only think about one good reason for that: to throw her out of the big sport toward big shows. ASAP. Till she's is still relatively healthy.
One may find herself as a great ice show girl, who knows...

Sasha skated on this show and probably her parents were there, too. It's impressive, dont you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4sxbyDGUqk&t=4m15s

But Sasha wants to be Olympic Champion at first!:)

The team probably needs a young, tall and strong man for the pole-and-harness. Maksim Kovtun springs into my mind, but him being a big name and celebrity in his own kind, probably puts him out of reach for Khrustalniy.
No doubt somebody will be found, invited to assessment, put on probation period and accepted into the team.

Like for aspiring skaters, becoming part of #TeamTutberidzeForProgress is a major career move for any young and aspiring trainer: working with the best kids and colleagues that will invest their knowledge in you.
Speaking of young coaches, interesting interview with Alena Vysotskaya, TeamTutberidze youngest skaters' coach: https://sport24.ru/news/other/2020-...ostornoy-gleykhengauze-shcherbakovoy-trusovoy

As for the little attention in the Eteri group, I think maybe Sasha and her parents didn't like that she was no longer the favorite in the group. Now it is Anna.
I'm pretty sure Eteri doesn't have favourites anymore. She tried it once and it backfired.

Where does this leave Konstantinova?

Not on any national team, not invited by Plyushchenko to Kislovodsk, rinks in Moscow and Sankt Peterburg still closed?

The #TeamPanova and #TeamDavydov skaters still haven't taken to the ice either, but when the Sirius complex in Sochi opens, a new opportunity arises.
Wasn't Konstantinova invited because facilities had opened for national team members only?

LOL. Honestly, who cares about Yana Rudkovskaya in this forum? Who cares about the other members of Russian show business you don't like? Weird.
The only part of Yana Rudkovskaya I care about, are her killer legs.

Didn't know that all the kids from the academy, Sasha's mum and her poodle were 'national team members'

If that were the case the 10-11 year old novice skaters shouldn't have been brought into the facilities, nor a 16 year old's mother and dog. Perhaps it's due to where Konstantinova is currently? A lot of them went to summer homes, so she might need to make additional travel plans to get to camp.

I remember it getting mentioned on here in the break between Nationals and Europeans, both Shcherbakova and Kostornaia went off and did shows; Trusova wasn't invited to any >> how true the lack of 'invite' is or if it was by choice she didn't go do shows, I'm not sure. I don't know her parents intentions behind the move to Plushenko but if there was concern that about her post-competitive skating career, as long as she doesn't leave Plushenko she is likely well setup.

I agree. I don't think she has emotional attachment to any of these girls anymore.
With Evgenia you could see, she really was her second mother that spent more time of her life with her than her actual mother.
The reactions she had watching her skate, happy or sad, I always found endearing to watch. And when Evgenia came off the ice crying at the Olympics and then lost the title, you could tell Eteri felt with her.
I'm also not sure if Evgenia was aware that she had a pretty special status with her coach that most skaters don't have with theirs.

Now I feel like Eteri has transcended that level of coaching and is evolving into more of a manager/executive of her academy.

Yes, everybody knows it. Except Edwin. ;) Plus she is in Volkov's team.
:

I do hope that Konstantinova and Trusova spend ice time together, while Konstantinova (and Kolyada who was coached by the same person) has consistency issues, she's a lovely, delicate skater with some really nice artistic qualities - someone that Trusova probably needs to invest in acquiring since relying on the jumps didn't get her any titles last year and her PCS mark needs improvement.

As for me, I would like to encourage Sasha, but to me it is like encouraging the captain of the Titanic after his ship has hit the iceberg.

That is rather... dramatic. I just don’t understand what you (and others) think is so terrible. From what I understood Sasha will be coached by Rozanov, who has proven himself as an excellent technical specialist. I doubt Plushenko has much to do with the training process.

As it happens, the girl is jumping 3Lz-3Lo on her first day back. :)

This combination on her first day back impresses me especially because it is not just about strength (although it takes a great deal), but also about incredible timing. Strength you can somewhat keep up off the ice, but timing is harder. Kudos to Sasha for somehow conjuring up her muscle memory from months ago!

To be fair, Ksenia and Team Panova are almost always very quiet. I am very curious to see what she does about programs, as I don't think international travel will be feasible for quite some time. Its a shame, because the programs she and the Panova girls get in the US are usually really beautiful and unique (think Ksenia's Alfonsa y el Mar, her sp last year, her Rachmaninov program, Alyona's Dreams of a Winter Jounrey, etc, all really special programs). Meanwhile when Tarakanova had to get programs in Russia, they weren't as well-choreographed (unfortunately for Tarakanova because she is so talented). Maybe they'll keep the programs another year, they don't seem against that at Panova's.

Me too. Kseniia is so so special imo. I would love for her to somehow make it to worlds. I also like Nastia Shabotova’s skating despite the controversy and country change.

Why in the hell would stasya not be with them?
She has a big year ahead of her with hopefully Challengers and a few Russian Cup events in St Petersburg cup and who knows what else maybe universade. Maybe Stanislava will skate better without so much pressure on her.

From the article:

Another student of Plyushchenko Stanislava Konstantinova will not be able to participate in the training camp, because in the new season she is not a part of the Russian national team.
“So far, the camps are open exclusively for national team members. Therefore, I am waiting for the opening of the Plyushchenko Academy skating rink. I work at home in St. Petersburg - on the floor, on the street,” said the figure skater to Sport24.

Shoutout to Anastasia Kostyuk, a star that never truly was. IMO she should've gotten JGP assignments, she had really nice qualities in her skating. SS, spins, and solid jumps too.

And as for Stasya (what happened to her last season? Poor girl) I didn't know that the Sarnovsky, Sofia Titova, Alena Zhilina, Lana Trusova, to mention a few, are on the national team now. And if Nika Z and Sofia A are allowed because she will be on novice national team, then where are Berestovskaia and the other girls?

Anna Frolova posted yesterday a picture of herself heading off to training, and Egor Rukhin posted a picture of himeslf in what looked like a locker room so I'd assume that something has been figured out for the CSKA kids. Notably Vika Vasilieva coming to seniors, Anna Frolova on the jr national team, Sofia Samodelkina on the jr national team, although we don't know about Berestovskaya and Gorbacheva on the novice national team (as well as Osokina and Ryabinina, who might be in the conversation for JGP spots)
