Oh dear... Kiira's skating looked nervous and stiff, which is understandable. But her jumps were pretty bad.. the 2toe made Yulia's axel look huge! I also didn't like the dress or the music. And not even her hair.. it was too tight to her head.. made her look old.. :disapp: And I didn't see anything wow or anything developed in her skating style or presentation.. I guess i just had much bigger expectations. :drama: But of course, she'll only go up from here if she maintains her health.

Great to see Kiira back. Of course her first performance in two years must be tough for her. Better and better it will be

Results Ladies Short Program.

Congrats to Isabelle Olsson 58.73 points - exactly 5 points more than her personal best. And Nicole Schott ! is she a new hope for German women? 7 points better personal best. Wonder if the judges were a bit generous here? A lot of personal bests.

Better to remember she has been practicing jumping only for two months. 2toe was not planned there but she tried to do it to get the combination done. 2toe should have been with the first jump but she fell. I do not like the music either but nice to see her starting again and I liked her hair.

Nicole is my club mate in Essen. She is with Michael Huth in Oberstdorf now...this is her first season as Senior. Yep, they upped the SP and the LP putting more difficulties in and it worked today! All the best for tomorrow. I saw her last week in Dortmund at the NRW-Trophy and big improvement indeed within one week. 3 weeks ago she couldnt fully train as that virus going round at the moment caught her!

The Men's Free Skate has been over for hours now and the individual/s responsible for updating the online scoring left them with the final two groups still to skate. This event's online support from those responsible has been pathetic! I sincerely hope the ISU will remove Golden Spin of Zagreb as a Challenger Series event and move it to some other region on the globe that needs more support for the sport.

With that total, Ten got a FS score of 157.43, which is much better than Trophee Eric Bompard, but quite low compared to the winning FS in the GP (Maxim Kovtun's was the lowest and he got 166+ EDITED: I lied. Ten's score is a touch higher than the 157.38 Kovtun got when he won Cup of China) . That score is actually lower than the entire top 5 free skates at Rostelecom Cup.

Looks like Brezina might have actually won the FS with 158.00

Menshov is at 146.38.

Seems PCS was on the lower side, so maybe the TES was stronger?

ETA: It sounds like Grant Hochstein had a great FS! According to Twitter he got 150.13, which smashes his PB in that segement by some 13 points (and I think he might have been 3rd in that segement. He was 6th after the SP and appeared to move up two spots to 4th). His overall total of 219.82 is also a new personal best.

I guess that puts Brezina in 1st place in the Challenger standings with a combined score of 468.10, Petrov 2nd with 450.31, and Menshov 3rd with 440.54, then Miner and Voronov fall to 4th and 5th. Good job Michal!

...what. If I was annoyed before, I'm past irritated now. What a sorry event.

On a positive note though, so happy for Denis and Michal! Hope this serves as a great confidence boost for them both. (And now I'm left to wonder just how long it'll be before we find out about the FD)

U. S. Nationals is looking more and more interesting. The men's comp. should be . Kayne and O'Shea did well also. They won the Bronze in their first competition of the season.

No joke. With his TES, he has the third highest TES among the U.S. men in the FS. Only behind Max Aaron and Jason Brown. I put him as a dark horse for top 10.

It's hard to say for sure without seeing any videos except Korpi, but scoring seems a little high here. It was great to see Korpi again- I thought her SP was quite nice, and it's refreshing to see a mature woman skating in a discipline that is now filled with youngsters. Still, her score might have been a little high given the errors and no 3-3 combo. Artemieva managed to set a PB with a fall, beating the score she received for her solid SP a couple weeks ago. There were plenty of PBs in the Ladies SP.

Guignard/Fabbri scored World Champion-level TES in the short dance (I think I read earlier in the thread that it was the highest TES seen all season!), and both they and Hubbell/Donohue shattered their PBs. It will be interesting to see if the free dance scores are super high, too... I really prefer when we can pretty much compare scores across events. In pairs, Astakhova/Rogonov crushed their PB in the LP, but it does sound like they were strong here. They had some trouble with their lift levels their first two comps, but here all Lvl 4s, so hopefully they've made improvements and it wasn't just an oddly high scoring event. 127 is a really good score.

Hochstein crushed his PB, but despite the errors he made, it looks like he landed quite a few more triples than he did in his previous PB skate, so it does make some sense. And a fully rotated quad with a fall still gives you a good amount of points. And it looks like Denis skated a somewhat better LP this week, I wish we could watch his skates!

The Men's Free Skate has been over for hours now and the individual/s responsible for updating the online scoring left them with the final two groups still to skate. This event's online support from those responsible has been pathetic!

It was strange- one would think they would be more eager to update their website during the last 2 groups of Men rather than the beginning groups, but they just disappeared! This is a Sr B, so I can maybe understand their not wanting to provide a live stream (there wasn't a free stream available for Finlandia either, which was a more "high profile" Sr B than this one), but for an event that has been held for a while now, the providing of results has been oddly disorganized. Maybe it's like this for other Sr Bs too and I just don't notice it because there's usually a Grand Prix to watch.

But .... streaming of other Challenger events was supplied by individual federations on the platforms of their choice -- not by the ISU on its YouTube or Eurovision channels. (And in the cases of SLC and Finlandia, access to streaming required a paid subscription.)

The lack of Golden Spin streaming is unfortunate of course (esp. b/c it is the last Challenger competition, as you have noted), but I don't think it's fair to hold the ISU responsible.

As you say, the JGP Zagreb streaming was available from the ISU b/c the ISU provided streaming of all JGPs. Apples and oranges, IMO.

I am surprised that ISU did not set some rules and necessities (ie live stream) for the Challenger series. Especially considering the fact that ISU financially contributes to the Challenger series event organizer. As per ISU communication 1854, each organizer will get 20,000 CHF. With the events empty seats, one would think that that a world wide exposure via live stream would be beneficial in promoting the sport and keep the ever diminishing fan base. But than someone would have to think at the ISU HQ.
