They are in Sochi (based on Liza's instagram stories). They took the afternoon flight and arrived around dinner time. Supposedly (this is according to chatter in forums) there will be closed door training and evaluation from Federation "specialists" from 6-9 Sept and then 10 Sept will be the SP and 11 Sept the FS. Both 10-11 Sept are ticketed events open to the public.
You could say that the "real" test skates are the ones behind closed doors from 6-9 Sept while the 10-11 Sept ones are more like galas. That's one way of looking at it.

Last year most skaters skated to their fullest and with all the jump content at them because for the public it is indeed test skates.

By "galas" I meant that the Federation is not going to judge them based on what happens on the 10 and 11 alone. And skaters do jump in actual galas btw.

I've been more excited about the test skates this year than most. Especially for the ladies, it'll be like a chaotic jostling for position and status there with so many bright stars pushing to be noticed. It really does feel like there is more at stake than most years. And on a personal note, I'm just way to impatient to wait anymore to see what my Lena will be skating to, hopefully something a little more lively than two dull, dull ballads...

This is what it says on CSKA website:

10-11 September in Sochi will be pre-control skates skaters the basic structure of the Russian national team. Like last year, rentals will be held in the format of demonstration performances.

Fans and viewers will be able to get to the rink, pre-purchasing tickets. At the box office will be attended by almost all the strongest Russian skaters.

SSHOR CSKA them. S.A.Zhuka present - Adelina Sotnikova Elena Radionova Mary Sotkova, Maxim Kovtun Sergei Voronov.

No Adian. Make of that what you will.

So the Russian ladies are in several friendly pairs: Liza & Lena, Yulia & Sima, and probably Evgenia & Anna. Is Maria good friend with someone? Adelina is likely solo.

Maria is Adelina's teammate and they seem to get along just fine. I hardly think anyone is going to get ignored or left to their own devices, or that they only travel in packs of two.

Some people are saying that based on her instagram story, Davankova is in Sochi with her hubby. I don't know where Shibnev is but last week they were all in Novogorsk.
Evdokimova and Bazin are also in Sochi.

Masha is friends with Adelina. You can see it in the training photos and on her instagram. She also went to Adelina's birthday party.
She's also good friends with Elena Rad, she invited her to her birthday and they always take pictures together when they are competing.
She's also friends with Zhenya and Sima I think. They used to be really good I think, when they were juniors.
