Finally we will see Chock & Bates' new programs! We haven't seen as much as a snippet of choreography yet.

That is a very European technical panel.

So... 1) P/C 2) S/B 3 C/B?

I put B/S 2nd in my predictions, regardless of the panel but now I'm glad I did... especially since we haven't seen C/B. But I could be 100% wrong. I wish for them to be ranked as they should : who has the best perfomance on the day.

That's exactly what I was thinking for final placements.

Strange we haven't seen Chock and Bates yet. Reminds me of how WeaPo didn't debut their programs until the third GP (AKA their first competition) last season, which was Rostelcom - the order of GPs is all switched up this year.

They had to change their FD from La la Land to Imagine and you better come ready to your 1st competition this year, or judges might want to take you down. Better come late and very ready than early to show off your stuff but partially ready.
WeaPo last year withdrew from a couple of events before the GPs - they had to change their SD.

Panel quite balanced, I think it's okay ? I hope the technical one will be fair...

Well, this is the first GP with no country from the top teams in the technical panel - but it's not like the results of COR and SC were that controversial. ID judging has been on point so far, IMO.

Did they *have* to change their FD or did they choose to? I thought Lynn Rutherford said they looked at the world around them and wanted to make a statement with their skating rather than La La Land.

Carol Lane might disagree.

No no, probably wanted to, not "have" of course (Not that I know anything, so by default, it's "wanted to"). I'm translating in my head sometimes

Honestly, I don't think Lennon's 'Imagine' an ideal competition music_ more of a show piece. But I'd seen Dean's number to this music and it looked stunning as an Exhibition program. I'm sure he had a hand in choosing this piece so I'm curious what it will look like as a competition number. Dean's choreography tends to be innovative ... adventurous ... so I'm really curious how this program pans out. BTW, here's a beautiful ... expressive contemporary dance performed to this piece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CojSRN78lqw

Ah, gotcha. I didn't realize they made a program switch. Has every skater who originally picked La La Land scrapped it? That damn soundtrack seems cursed!

Torvill and Dean skated to John Lennon's Imagine and the Beatles' Revolution during their Pro career. But Chock & Bates are using a cover version of a man and woman's voices, representing them skating on the ice. They made the decision to switch themselves after Dean had already choreographed the La La Land FD.
