This should be interesting.

Tomoki Hiwatashi was killing it two years ago, but disappointing last season with injuries, he changed the coach,... i'm also curious to see Makar Ignatov, who came out of nowhere last year at nationals and finished just off the podium.

Matyas Belohradsky and Ivan Pavlov did well last season, then of course Savosin who already earned a bronze.

Compiled using World Time & Date Clock @ https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/latvia/riga and the official ISU JGP Riga, Latvia Coloured Time and Event Schedule @ http://www.isuresults.com/schedules/jgplat2017_ColouredTimeSchedule.pdf the Men's Start Times are:

12:15 pm EDT / 9:15 am PDT

This isn't correct though. The colored Time/Event schedule has the men's short at 18:10 PM in Riga, which is 7 hours ahead of the Eastern time zone/10 hours ahead of Pacific, so Sabrina is correct that it's 11:10 AM Eastern (and 8:10 AM Pacific).

FYI : doris always puts the starting time per time zone at the top of the thread.

Curious to see Maxim Naumov, the son of world champ ice dancers...it will be interesting to see him vs. Torgashev. Rooting for Makar & Matyas most of all, but I think this field has the potential to be more interesting than the last 2 JGPs. Hopefully.

Very pleasantly surprised by the men's JGP so far, let's hope it keeps up this way:clap:

Looking forward to Maxim Naumov, saw him at the Philly International not knowing bubkes about him, and very impressed with his performance qualities. I think he was second, IIRC, but he grabbed my attention.

And of course Tomoki will be skating two Rohene programs, so that is always worthwhile....:agree:

In fact, with my boy Andrew T. (who is not here, I know, but gotta give him a shout-out), three all-American boys of immigrant parents, getting the job done;)

Also interesting is that Matyas Belohradsky, Nikolaj Majorov, and Mihhail Selevko are all little brothers of other active skaters. Go little bros!

I'm with Ted Barton, so far the Men's JGP competitions have not been very impressive. (Now the Ladies on the other hand...) Unfortunately, I don't expect things will change. I feel there is such pressure on the shoulders of these skaters now, knowing if they want to make any sort of impact in Seniors, they have to focus on jumps jumps jumps and more jumps so they can get the quads, and it feels to me like it's starting to really impact the rest of the skating (not to mention the fact that most don't land the big jumps, maybe it's just a bit asking too much of them). I cannot give precise examples or anything, it's just how it feels to me. :-(

Anyway, am here, missed the rest of today due to busy work schedule, but that's okay, I'll catch up (no spoilers though, please!).

Huh, the chat is enabled for this livestream. Maybe because people weren't saying as many awful things about the men? Anyway, I'm sorry to have missed the ladies this morning but I'm excited to watch these boys go! Hopefully it'll be a better showing than in Salzburg.

Re: my previous post, does this guy really skate to music with "Jump jump jump" in the lyrics? Yeah. I rest my case. ;-)

edited to add: maybe he should focus on the spins first? *shrug*
