I LOVED THAT PROGRAMME FROM SKATER #2!!!

The first Latvian in this competition skated to "Bad Romance". No, not "Bad Cover", as we refer to the musical version. The original by Lady Gaga. And it was brilliant!!! The editing was seemless, and didn't take away from the essence of the song.

OK, so the wee girl's skating was very rough around the edges. But, you could see the energy of the song coming through in her.

She went into 2nd position.

I wish more people would skate to the original version of "Bad Romance".

Ah, I remember this programme for the last of the Latvian girls in this competition, Skater #8.

I remembered the dress, because it is very distinctive. It has a set of piano keys on the front, and a bass clef on the back.

And I remembered the music too. It had a girl singing an accoustic piano cover of Abba's "Thank You For The Music". And I remembered that I liked the song at the start, but went off it when the singer got very screechy towards the end.

But, I still love the way that everything tied in together.

Unfortunately, she had a fall.

Skater #8 actually has the same TSS as Skater #4 from Lithuania, but gets 5th position on the tie break, with the Lithuanian dropping to 6th position.

I forgot to point out, the last two skaters in this competition, Skaters #9 and #10, have the same surname. And seeing them sitting either side of the coach after the second one skated, they are definitely sisters. And probably twins.

I love it when competitions have siblings going back-to-back. Lets you directly compare them.

The first of them went into 5th position. The second went into 10th and last position.

Awkward.

Well, to be fair, the second of the sisters was the only skater to get two deductions, totalling 1 point.

EDIT: They're not sisters. I just noticed that, although their surnames are very similar, they are not actually the same.

The girl that was sitting with Skater #10 is actually Skater #2 from the Chicks C competition later in the day. And she does have the same surname, so my point about them definitely being sisters stands.​

During the resurfacing, I had a look at all the results from so far today, and I think we might have had another set of sisters (and probably twins) in the first competition. But I didn't spot it at the time, because there were two skaters and a Warm-Up between them.

They actually finished in the bottom two positions. Skater #8 was in 16th position, just 0.50 points ahead of Skater #5 in 17th position.

I like it when siblings score very similarly.

Aha! After seeing a skater doing a "Pink Panther" programme wearing a leopardprint dress yesterday, Skater #3, the sole Estonian in this competition, had a more conventional costume. A pink dress.

I don't know if it was them, but that sounded very like The Shadows playing the music.

Ah. I didn't realise that deductions were a quarter point at this level.

Oh, it's annoying me trying to remember what Disney film the song that Skater #4 is skating to is from. Something goes through my head that it's "Moana". But the dress doesn't say "Moana" to me.
