IT'S HERE!!
LADIES FREE SKATE

Hello members!

We hope you're enjoying the World Figure Skating Championships and discussing the competition on this thread.

Running this forum, as many of you know, is not free. Golden Skate pay a sizable amount, including for servers. We want to keep GS a fun place to discuss skating, especially during these competitions, so Golden Skate Staff is asking that you consider donating during our campaign. Our goal is to raise $3,164.

You can donate here.

Please donate what you can. Every bit helps.

If you would like to really show your support for Golden Skate, please consider being a GS Supporter. Benefits of being a Supporter can be found here. There are a lot. Find out more!

We're aiming for at least 25 of you to donate something today. If everyone who uses Golden Skate today donated just $1 we would be at our goal!

:thank:

Noooooooooo!!!! Dabin is one of my favorites and I love her Dr. Zhivago free skate. Such a shame to withdraw due to equipment so close to finishing the competition.

Let Larkyn skate!!!

According to Jackie Wong, there's no substitution rule so there'll just be 23 skaters

That really doesn't seem fair - I mean had she WD before the short then Larkyn would be in the free. Not like there isn't enough time to add her.

I feel like it would be unfair to the audience, to be honest. She wasn't good enough to qualify- why must people sit through her free skate? I know it is harsh, but this is a sport and a show. I don't know, maybe I'm being too harsh and over thinking it. But figure skating gets a bad rap already in regard to the length of competitions and their tediousness.

Just because someone doesn't make the cut doesn't mean their FS is so bad that the audience would have to suffer to watch it. She was just over half a point under Ivett Toth's score, it's not like she was bottom of the barrel. Nobody is forced to come watch the first groups anyway. I'm sure Larkyn has some fans who would have liked to see her. I don't care for Dabin's skating either but I'm sorry for her...what rotten luck.

You're right. I'm just grasping at straws for the competitions to be shorter I guess. I get that nobody is obligated to watch the first group, but I personally feel like it is still part of the competition and I don't like to miss part of a competition, and spectators, not particular fans of a skater, should be happy to come watch a competition from the start.

Maybe I'm influenced because the general level is lower than last year, idk.

^^wow. These are athletes who work hard all their lives. If you don't want to watch them, no one's forcing you. But please, let's respect them. This is a world's stage and they're all world class athletes. :disagree:

Oh no, poor Dabin. I love her.

I feel for Larkyn. I would have loved to see her free skate.

Good luck to all the wonderful ladies competing today!

Idk what time I'll be back from eating "brunch" with my mom and brother and other things, but I might not be able to watch parts of the FP.
