It doesn't look like Kao hit his head on the ice with that 4S, but that was a bad fall regardless...

Hopefully he really is okay. If he is, wow, what a treat the last four skaters have been.
I really thought I saw him hit his head but he got up and seemed fine but it was a really hard fall. Glad it was just a fall.

I guess we should be past saying "aww, it's early in the season!" That men's free skate was not very good. The top 3 were at least in the conversation but the rest of the field was pitiful. I do see a lot of improvement in some of the skaters sort of. I loved Keegan's short program and think it would make a good show program...maybe leave the attempted quads out. But his long was just a regurgitation of last year's and actually kind of ho hum. Jimmy Ma and Camden did not appoint themselves very well. Don't know what to say about either of them. Matteo Rizzo is certainly ramping up his technical. That man can rotate SOOOO fast. Nice to see the Italians being competitive outside of dance.

The gentleman in the KnC with Deniss and Stephane is Ghislain Briand. He's apparently now working with Stephane. Ghislain is the jump specialist who used to work with Brian Orser and worked with Hanyu. So I think that box is checked.
Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but wondering when/why Ghislan left Orser's group?

Hiya, just caught up here, glad to hear that the men's skate seemed to go really well.

Sorry that Keegan missed the podium, but sounds like he had a great skate. Going to see if I can find vids out there.

Also, it seems I need to step up my zamboni game!

Finally catching up with the Men. I feel sorry for my boys Deniss and Conrad, it just wasn't their day. But I am superhappy with the podium. Those three were amazing, and I am especially warming up to Matteo this season.
Messing's skating is not for me so his placement was just fine with me.

Messing was amazing! I was so glad for his chance to be in competition. He is so fast and has fantastic projection. The arena’s response was great!

I also was so worried for Rizzo, and omg, he totally cooped awesome this time with post-Messing energy, and I was so, so happy. Totally erased the unfortunate incident in Kelowna (and how happy I am we had moved to more sane times!) anyway, he literally glowed after the skate.

Gogolev’s climb was good and I am so happy he will have ranking points for this event.

Really liked Selevko on ice, particularly his short program.

And, of course, Uno was out of this world, and I didn’t want for the FS to end (lol, I am sure he felt differently). But I count myself so fortunate I got to see him live 2/3 of events I went so far.

Now, top of my list to see (of what’s possible) are Malinin, Cha and Shaidorov. If I am lucky, they will all be in 4CC. 🙏🙌

selevko – the music suits him and the program is enjoyable to watch. i like his musicality. some lovely jumps, solid spins. decent skating. maybe a wee bit underscored. good, solid skate

the swiss guy – committed to his program, pretty good skating skills, got lowballed on the first spin

deniss – i really enjoy the sophistication. this could be a fantastic lp but he had a bad day. also, stsq2?! the heck? props for going for that 4sal tho

keegan?! omg amazing skate. i’m so salty i’ve never seen this man live...i hope he doesn’t retire before i get to.

shoma – this lp is exquisite. beautiful. everything he does (except te jumps) is just...beautiful

also how did rizzo beat keegan?! insane. keegan absolutely should have medalled here.

Had Keegan just done a stupid 2T in the short he would have.
