That will be hard. Cause the top 6 are locks. She basically has to squeeze and take one of four spots from the rest of the 18 skaters.
Hard but not impossible if she skates the way she did at Nationals.
I think the SP is never as good for her as the LP. She is a better jumper than spinner, so the weight of the jumps in the LP help her.
She will have to watch her lutz edge though because Shin didn't like it. her combo was called 3lzeq-3t<
that's pretty intense :)

Wow! They killed Kimmy and Kaiya on the triple triple combos. The -5 across the board for Kaiya was like she fell….
It was a bit harsh but then she had an edge call a q and a <... i don't really have a problem with the -5 when they get all the alphabet soup of calls on an element.

Oh right! I forgot. Was Shin the technical controller? I have a feeling he is the real difference maker
well.. it's just a 1 point or so difference for the cut off compared to last year... the women who skated well got very good scores... I don't think it can be entirely explained by the presence of 50% of the TP.

True… the combo had the entire red marks on it. I could barely read what combo she executed.

He wasn't. He definitely plays a major part in why the scores are a bit lower here, but scoring has in general been a bit more conservative in this post-Olympic season (thinking back to the JGPF).

I woke up about 4 and did not get to sleep, I watched some, tried to sleep, watched some, tried to sleep..so I have no idea who I watched, but Lorine Shcild and Clare Seo I got.

Iida did not make it to the free, what a surprise after having so solid season. I watched backwards what you guys have been talking about and I noticed some chatting about Finland's winter.

Well here you are, our backyard last weekend. Same place, about 24 hours difference. Nothing unusual especially here at west coast. Thought the temperature is warmer when upper photo was taken, it is more depressing weather and very slippery. It may well descripe how Iida is feeling.
I saw also Anna from Italy had the same destiny as Iida.

Well, I have no idea when I have time to watch the highlights and I cannot watch anything at weekend, so good luck for everybody to the free. I look at the results who I try to watch. At the evening local time I try to watch at least the first groups of men. Home office day tomorrow, so no so early morning.

The cut-off score is a little above 3 points lower than last season. In scenarios with strict technical panels, some skaters will always be affected more (i.e. those that usually get away with underrotations, edge issues, ...), while some will not be affected much at all.

How much influence the technical specialist (Shin Amato in this case) has might be surprising to some. The TS is responsible for real-time calls and reviews are only done when the assistant technical specialist disagrees with the calls, at which point TS, ATS and technical controller become involved in the decision-making (majority rule decides the calls after the review). So, unless there's a disagreement, the calls are under the full discretion of the technical specialist alone.

yeah... correct. there were a lot of reviews according to Ted, so calls were made, and many were double checked... In any case, as I said, I prefer someone who is strict and consistent across the 47 skaters... which is what I feel we got tonight... top skaters were dinged when they didn't rotate fully just as much as the first few skaters.... sometimes we see some calls earlier on and suddenly, by the last couple flights, everyone skates "clean" as a whistle... That, I don't like ;) I think judging on day 1 was pretty consistent and fair.
