Interesting point...Pretty much all the men at Inge Solar skated badly with the exception of Grassl. Innsbruck is only about 1900 feet above sea level, so it's not really at high altitude.
But for a high skill sport like figure skating, the change in air density will affect the feedback from balance and proprioception...
And there is a significant change for 3% in air density per every 1000 ft of altitude.
