That's so cute that both Carly and Gracie qualified! Also why does Mirai get a bye?

I'm sort of hoping that Ashley wins again over Gracie but I'd rather see someone like Karen Chen seize an upset...

Mirai gets a bye because she competed at NHK Trophy which conflicted with her Pacific Coast Sectionals. Gracie and Carly have had a dream of competing together at Nationals so I'm thrilled for them! Hope they both do really well!

I like Karen Chen a lot and it would be lovely if she could make the podium again. However, she is another skater (besides Ashley and Mirai, and Polina) who has a serious problem with under rotating her jumps. Before she becomes national champion I really hope they can correct her under rotation issues.

One thing I will miss is Samantha Cesario skating from 11th - 5th with her Carmen LP. If there was 1 skater I could resurrect from retirement it would be her: Despite being slowish, her jumps had great lift and she could sell a program without obnoxious facial expressions or arm flinging. I wish she could've stuck around and worked on her speed and jump technique

She could really sell the FS and I really enjoyed her skating. I do think the serious back problems plus the mono really hurt her training. If she could have increased the speed and jump technique as you mention she could have been on the podium. I hope she is doing well - I think she was going to coach and maybe design costumes. Who knows, maybe like Rohene Ward she will have a great career as a choreographer someday!

Wow, I feel like seeing a new spin-off of the Lord of the Rings. Thank you for another great promo, Karpenko. In the promo, the skaters are strong like Valkyries and willing to take or defend the title at their best.

You know this year's US Pair and Ice Dance are expected to be exciting as well, just saying. ;)

Does anyone know what's going on with Leah Keiser? I don't follow the lower levels of US skating at all, but I really enjoyed her Nationals performances last year and kind of assumed she would be here.

Someone posted a picture of her doing the college thing a few months back. I'm not sure if she competed this year:confused:

Ahh gotcha. Well, good for her doing the college thing!

I'm also surprised not to see Tessa Hong among the junior lineup.

Leah Keiser didn't compete in qualifying events this year or any international events. Tessa Hong withdrew from sectionals.

Leah Keiser withdrew from regionals.

Sam-S, is it possible that you're thinking of Barbie Long instead of Leah??

Tessa broke her ankle before sectionals. :sad4:

Thank you for this! U.S. Nationals is always so fun to watch. It was my favourite competition last season, so I'm very excited for this one!:clapper:

Yay someone cheering for Ash Cain:)

I haven't seen Mariah Bell this season. How is she looking? I really liked Courtney Hicks when I saw her at NHK and it seems the Ladies field is as deep as ever for the US. If our Ladies can deliver strong programs at Worlds I think we might just keep our 3 spots.

Mariah has a FS program that is amazing but probably too difficult for her. She struggles with the 3-3. I still love her though even if she has been coming up short!!!
