As an Asian American, I can attest that it is stereotypical to say all Asians are small, short, whatever verbiage it is that one wants to utilize. However, science does prove that generally speaking, the average (this is key whenever people bring up discussions concerning the physical attributes of a certain race) height for Asians is shorter than that of say Europeans. However, we are now swerving away from the topic at hand which is figure skating and the original comment was talking about Kate's lack of big jumps and the problems puberty may present. From the photos I've seen, Kate's mom and dad are both pretty short, so she might not grow beyond 5-something.

US classics does not overlap with Hanna's JGP.

What I mean is, USFS likes to give a skater a four week break and then schedule them again for a JGP. It looks like they may be taking her off the JGP. :(

I hope she gets a spot at the last JGP so she can get more international competitions and WR points this season.

Both Korea and Russia have placeholders for Poland. USFS does this every year. They have to submit some name, so the put a junior in. If they don’t perform well their first outting they change it. It happened to Alexia, Starr, Ashley Lin, etc. If Emilia doesn’t do well at Lake Placid, she’ll be bumped for the next in line.

IIRC, the assignments are not official until they show up on the international assignments page, which have not been updated yet.

Ting Cui, Amber Glenn, and Hanna Harrell will be competing at U.S. International Classic.

Hanna Harrell is skating at the US Classic? This will be right in the middle of the JGP for her. You'd think they would wait and assign her to a later Senior B after the JGP season is over. Very strange to have her skate as a senior internationally then go back to the JGP for her 2nd event. Not sure why they'd take a chance and tire her out with a competition right in the middle of the JGP season if she has a chance at the JGPF.

Glenn and Harrell, Lu & Mitrofanov, and Krasnozhon are all with the same coaching team. It may just be easier to put them all at the same event.

Skaters who are eligible for the senior stage, but continue to compete as juniors almost always receive a Senior B. For example, Ting’s Senior B was near the end of the Junior Grand Prix season. U.S. Classic is only a flight away from where Hanna trains so there won’t be much jet lag and she’ll have more opportunities to train and hone her programs. I see it as a positive that Hanna is receiving these opportunities because they might be setting her up for a berth at Four Continents. Additionally, Hanna is inconsistent, so it’ll be good for her to get out any kinks before her second Junior Grand Prix event. The reason why Alysa and Hanna were assigned together was to maximize their potential of earning a ticket to the Grand Prix Final.

Although Emilia did not reach the current year’s I.S.P. threshold which seems to be in the 150s, she was put on the I.S.P. due to her medal placement at Nationals AND probably the 177 she earned last season. Emilia may not have a clean 3-3 yet, but she has character and musicality for days. Although politics may have been involved in her receiving a second berth, it’s always good to bring up young talent and she’ll be a senior next year so it’s always good to give our upcoming seniors some experience.

Sarah Jung was placed on the I.S.P. after scoring 162 at Philly and she’s one of the subs for the event in Poland alongside Jessica Lin and Lindsay Thorngren.

Apparently, Hanna’s been training a 4T but no videos of the jump have been recorded. Ting’s 4T progress might be hindered due to injury. Thus, Alysa might be the only U.S. attempting anything beyond the 3A this season. Best of luck to our ladies, especially Hanna and Calista who recently arrived in France for their Junior Grand Prix event.

I agree. We cannot fault the USFSA for encouraging youngsters who excel at big competitions like U.S. Nationals.

As for using the Internet to promote own's own skater by casting shade on her competitors, no, that's not cool.

I saw that on Ice network last year before US Nationals. It's probably on her bio. Regardless they are all Dallas area teams.

Best of luck to Calista and Hanna this week. I can’t wait to see Calista’s programs, she had such flow and deep edges at novice nats last year. Here’s hoping her jumps will be ready :eeking: . Also excited for Hanna’s spring and attack! I love her short this year! Go kill it girls!!
