I just joined to watch 5 minutes ago. Missed the first half. It doesn’t look like I missed much. I watched Michelle Long’s skate and Emily Bausback..... I like Emily’s program. Michelle was good too. But, the jumps ☹️

I thought Daleman and Bausback were both generously scored here. That said, Daleman actually looked better than I expected. Obvious issues on the jumps, but an interesting program choreographically and you can still see those world class skating skills. I did not, however, think she should have scored above Schizas, at least.

I thought Schizas looked improved in her posture and musicality. Ruiter looked great, but I'm always cautious about overhyping a young teen who's still growing into themselves. That said, she seems to have really good basic skating that should hold her in good stead. I also loved Alison Schumacher. I took notice of her a couple of years ago at nationals. She didn't place all that well at the time, but I thought she had tremendous potential. Glad to see she's looking so good.

Catherine Carle was a nice surprise to start off the competition, and totally screwed over by skating first. And, as always, even when there are mistakes, Michelle Long is a delight.

So, I thought the oldest competitor (Michelle Long) and the youngest competitor ( Kaiya) were the two standouts. A lot of skaters have nice basic skating, but very little attention to the music or detail was shown. Kaiya, on the other hand, is just an adorable committed performer and Michelle Long was the best skater in the event. ( Obviously not the best jumper in the event)

Actually the oldest competitor Emilie Roy in 30th place, she's 35!
