Gaaah!!! I didn't notice that this was starting earlier today!!!

After finishing Day 5 with an Ice Dance double-bill, we start Day 6 with another Ice Dance double-bill. 10 Junior partnerships; followed by 6 Senior partnerships. The 10 Junior partnerships are arranged into two groups of 5 partnerships.

That's a good start. The first partnership, Viktoriia AZROIAN / Artur GRUZDEV (ARM) has withdrawn.

I still have the Protocols from yesterday open from doing the report for Sofía and Asaf's Fan Fest earlier, and there was nothing obvious in there that would result in Viktoriia and Artur withdrawing. So, hopefully it is something that will not keep them out of action for long.

Well, it is easy to spot Sofía and Asaf today, as the other partnerships are wearing black and they are wearing blue jackets.

What on Earth?!

Another partnership skated through Sofía and Asaf while they were holding hands! That could have been a disaster!

And there was another near miss later on as well.

I really hope that dirty tactics are not going on here. Trying to nobble the leaders. Because that is not Ice Dance.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

I don't profess to be an expert on Ice Dance, but I didn't spot any mistakes at all. It looked flawless.

It just makes me even more sad that nobody got to see it at Europeans. Because this programme is pure magic.

I wonder what Sofía was trying to describe to Kirill with those hand signals.

Everybody holding hands for the scores being announced.

No need to worry. They win easily.

My goodness. The first Turkish skater, Fatma Yade KARLIKLI (from an Ankara club), had to wait half a day for her scores!

Was that her listed coach, Tomi Pulkkinen, sitting with her? If so, he has changed so much since he was skating! Somebody commented a week or so ago about all Finnish skaters being blonde. (To which my instant reaction was "Laura Lepistö isn't"). Well, if that was Tomi, he isn't blonde any more. The guy sitting with Fatma had dark hair.

She safely maintained her lead in both FS and overall.

EDIT: The second Turkish skater, Ceyda SAGLAM (from an Istanbul club), slotted into 2nd in both FS and overall.​

OK. I admit defeat today.

All 4 skaters in the Group 2 Warm-Up were wearing black. And the lighting mean't I could make out their faces.

It improved slightly when one of the skaters took off her jacket to reveal a yellow dress ("La La Land", anybody?) But, I still couldn't identify Aleksandra.

Oh, imagine that! Sofiya FARAFONOVA (KAZ) is doing a "La La Land" programme.

I thought I recognised the uniform!

It was going very well. But then she fell at the change of music.

Oh, I forgot that there would be a costume change! It worked a lot better this time than a previous time I remember.

She was only a couple of points ahead of Gracheva after the SP. So, will the fall cost her a podium position?

It might have done. She goes into 2nd in the FS and overall.

Gaaah!!!!! The computer crashed as Farafonova was waiting for her scores. So I had to run into the kitchen and put on the laptop.

And by the time I had it all set up, Levkovets had finished.

Since I can't write and watch at the same time in the kitchen, I am going to wait until the desktop re-starts, and then wind back to where I left off, and play catch-up.

We finish the Ephesus Cup with chaos! A group of 3 boys.

But, I am still catching up on the last 2 girls, after my computer crashed. (Such a pity that there wasn't a resurfacing between the two segments).

Beautiful combination jump to start with.

Thought she was going to go too far on the second jump, but it turned out beautiful.

Next jump beautiful too. And so were the first two parts of the sequence of jumps that she did immediately afterwards. But, she fell on the third part.

But she quickly made up for it with the combination spin.

Next section went well.

Not a great landing on a jump. But the combination jump and the individual jump that she did shortly afterwards made up for it.

Very weird fall on a spin in the latter stages of the programme.

All spins after that were lovely.

She looked very disappointed after she finished. And it will be all the harder for her since she has nobody with her.

Hang on, Kirill Khaliavin has joined her. And they are chatting away.

Oh what I would give to be a fly on the wall! (That said, they are probably speaking in Russian. So, I wouldn't understand what they were saying anyway! )

Despite the mistakes, she wins both the FS and overall by a distance.



And to think that I was convinced that she would retire at Europeans a couple of weeks ago!
