There has been quite a lot of discussion about ballet-influenced skating programmes, so it may be of interest to see ballet's take on skating :)

'Les Patineurs' (chor. Frederick Ashton, performed by the Royal Ballet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e15W-6FwEb4

'At the ice rink' (chor. Igor Moiseyev, performed by his eponymous ballet/folk dance company): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxzEr8igvRo

If you know any more examples of skating making its way into the dance world, feel free to share!

Great topic!

Torvill and Dean's website contains a brief mention of a ballet that Christopher Dean choreographed for the English National Ballet:

Chris was commissioned by Derek Deane, the Artistic Director of the English National Ballet, to choreograph a dance for their new season. Using the music of Paul Simon, Chrisā€™s ballet was called Encounters and premiered in Cambridge in June. The piece was well received and toured the UK as part of a triple bill before opening at the Royal Festival Hall, London, for a short season.

Source (scroll down to the entry for 1996).

A short review in The Independent (a reputable British newspaper at the time) thought that Dean showed promise as a ballet choreographer, but I don't know of any further forays into off-ice dance.

Thank you for the linkšŸ„°šŸ„°. I love watching the Moiseyev Dancers. I was sitting in the audience for their appearance at the Kennedy Center in August 1974 when they held up the start of the program so we could listen to the broadcast of President Nixon's resignation speech.
