http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...al-character-designs-october-premiere/.104794 You can read the story in english.

Victor Nikiforov inspirations was Plushenko as many Japanese FS fans thought. But the young Russian Yuri also has some similar qualities with Plushy. The young blond, blue eyed Plushenko was called as the Russian prince in a fairy tale.

The young Prince, the heir to the King's throne...? I think that of course Nikiforov is Plushy, but I rather think that the Russian Yuri is Artur...

That Viktor is based on Plushy was obvious from the beginning. Only Plushy has such charimsa! I admit I thought that young Russian is based on Julia too  Wonder what skaters Yuri Katsuki character was based on.

The blond character in the red-and-white Russia jacket is so obviously Plushy

Sure. Obviously. :clapper:

Now we look again at the picture (the left one):
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/thumbnails/max550x550/cms/news/104794/victor.jpeg

And we look here:

Yes, there is one skater, which knows, how to dance lezginka on ice.
"If the ice is hacked to ice chips, here was..." He was here.
(Though if their Victor was a little more old, he would be old enough to be Yuri's father...)

I'd prefer both these Russian skaters from the anime would be Evgeni. Or anybody else. :con3: Honestly!

I'm not sure what you want to say, but if you're implying that the character of Victor is based more on Yags than Plush... that's reaching really far. It's possible that Victor is based based on both, but the character design is quite obviously based on Plushy.

Good morning.

what do you want to say? the character design is quite obviously based on Plushy.

Well, I already said I'd prefer not to see Yagudin in this anime.

So what do we know about the character? This? :rolleye:

27-year-old "living legend" who has garnered the attention of the world. has won five consecutive world championships. He is popular with men and women of all ages, and he has a rock star-like charisma.

What does fit Evgeni, but doesn't fit Alexei?..

(And... oh, yes: Yagudin is the one who should appear to help a skater, who "gains weight easily, is weak to pressure and messes up") :rolleye:

1. about the picture:
I understand, that we can find many photos with other skaters standing in the same pose, but... Yagudin is the only one, who is famous for these steps. This is an old joke:
"If the ice is hacked to ice chips, Yagudin was here".
How does he hack the ice? Like this.
It's hard to invent, what picture could fit better to show Yagudin. Maybe a picture with the snow:

2. as for the text...

27-year-old, has won five consecutive world championships?

(Is it many, by the way?..)
Yagudin had to retire, when he was 23 years young.
Yes, he is only 4 time world champion (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002) and an Olympic champion (2002)
= 5? Nearly consecutive? (What a bad luck for me.)

"living legend", a rock star-like charisma?

The skaters keep wearing Yagudin's costumes:

http://romain-par-caro-et-lui.skyrock.com/1324286086-Eux-une-vraie-complicite.html Romain Ponsart

In 2015 Stéphane Lambiel had an ice show, which was telling about a boy who saw Yagudin and decided to become a skater. And this is not a fantasy: Pitkeev says he watched the recording of Yagudin's Olympics and told his mom he wants "to jump like this too".

Tarasova tells, that the Americans made a big poster after Saltlake City Olympics. They took many small photos of the athlets - skiers, speed skaters - different athlets. And all these photos constituted a big portrait of Yagudin with the gold medal. His face was the face of the Olympics. (Yes, we have only Tarasova's words. But she is not a child.)

When people decided to discuss 2001 Worlds, they said Yagudin didn't deserve even his silver medal, but one person also told this:
"The men jumped and jumped and jumped during the practices at this Worlds. Alexei & Plushenko were out there practicing jumps they had never done in competition. (And Irina Slutskaya did a three jump combo as well in her practice). But the Russian men's practice is one of the strongest memories I have of this event. Alexei had the crowd in the palm of his hand before the event started. He was signing autographs after one of the practices and signing autographs and signing . . . The announcer had asked "the skaters to please clear the ice" several times. And finally the announcer said, "Alexei, please clear the ice." He hopped up onto the edge of the boards, so that his skates were off the ice, and kept on signing autographs."

Even now, when Yagudin doesn't have many jumps, people can't take their eyes off him.

Or a man tells:
"The figure skating never was interesting for me, but when all the skaters were falling in Sochi, I decided to watch some previous Olympics. And I saw Yagudin, I was shocked, I fell in love with the skating (his skating)!!!"

It will be always like this. If people will see him, they will fall in love with the skating.

Rocking all over the World !

To be honest, they look more like Alexander Abt to me. Of course, I like all 3 skaters and maybe the character is a blend of all 3 of them. ;)

You weren't clear on that, actually.

As to everything else... you're taking it way too seriously. To me Victor looks most like Plushy but if the anime creators put some Yags in him, some Abt or others... so what? He's just an anime character, no reason to get upset over him.

Oh, and I would ask you not to change my words when you quote me next time. Snipping, throwing away irrelevant parts is fine, but changing words is not , even if it's minor.

Excuse me. It is always important for me not to change the sense of the words. It seems I saved it, but maybe you mean you phrase became more rude... Anyway, excuse me. I will be more careful.

Oh, no. Of course, I don't care about this anime.
It is just strange, that so many people insist they see Evgeni - "obviously". :rolleye:
Well, maybe 1 thing is obvious:
4 worlds + 1 Olympics = 5 (nearly consecutive)
It seems the authors don't even try to put on a mask on Yagudin, but everybody see Evgeni.
Funny, isn't it?

To me they look like anime characters. :rolleye: All look the same.
I was speaking about Victor's pose on the picture (legs, hands).
Though... how else could they draw Yagudin in anime, if his face and his hair look like this?

Maybe I am wrong.
But the coincidences are funny. :rolleye:

Looks cool, but some of the skating animation is a bit choppy. I hope they'll be able to put enough detail into the scenes where the characters are doing programs.

Is this one of her pictures? It definitely looks like Plushy and his wife. http://66.media.tumblr.com/5287db8bd6bdd6424b757cabdce8c090/tumblr_npopnzVT5q1t2nc6po1_500.png

Yes, they are. I just wanted to show with this beautiful mangas Plushy easily can be Yuri or Victor. The manga drawing it not necessarily a copy of the original person. Many people say Plushy is Ivan Braginsky, Russia is in the Hetalia strategy game. http://cheezburger.com/8058166272 , http://www.acparadise.com/acp/display.php?p=140417 In Plushy's costume, http://magicalmoon20.deviantart.com/art/Plushenko-Is-0-o-204298729

The North-Americans always wanted to cute his hair, but on the other places in the world that is very inspiring..

Not totally sure what's going on in this thread, but I love the Yagudin anecdotes and legend-building, especially my Russian soul-twin (Pitkeev) naming Yagudin as why he got into skating. Hopefully he has his own big success this season, continuing the chain! Pretty much everyone is drawn into Yagudin's skating, even Patrick Chan gushes about him.

A mad thread, isn't it obvious? :palmf:

Pretty much everyone is drawn into Yagudin's skating

Oh, the charming dialogue looks like this:

Yuzuru Hanyu: my first idol is Evgeni Plushenko, whose jumps are perfect and who is very consistent. My other idol is Johnny Weir...
(it was here: https://www.ifsmagazine.com/articles/11500-yuzuru-hanyu)
Patrick Chan: As a child, he would watch the winter Olympics and on athlete he looked up to and inspired him was Alexei Yagudin.
https://docs.google.com/document/preview?hgd=1&id=1nP16gCLafnQoCHjjMncHnKUYmeVHMWl4IYaQXdraB-M
Takahashi's idols in skating were Olympic Champions Alexei Yagudin, Evgeni Plushenko and Japan's Takeshi Honda.
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00004810.htm
Stéphane Lambiel: There are many, many. When I was little, I adored to watch the perfomances by Victor Petrenko, Ilia Kulik. I remember with what an admiration I watched Saltlake City Olypmics: Alexei Yagudin and Evgeni Plushenko.
http://nastroenie.tv/episode/86050
Denis Ten: Alexei Yagudin... he's a legendary skater. He was always my idol, but he is also an awesome buddy. Stéphane Lambiel... /.../ And Yuna Kim. Just because.
http://skateguard1.blogspot.ru/2014/06/interview-with-denis-ten.html
Javier Fernandez: When I was younger I was always following Evgeni Plushenko.
http://www.artonice.it/?q=en/book/print/13976
and etc.!
The soviet circus. Yagudin's team, Plushenko's team... Forever. :coffee: :clapper:
(Oh, yes, and the "Yagudin, Plushenko" team.)

especially my Russian soul-twin (Pitkeev)

(Pitkeev, 2014) http://rsport.ru/interview/20140907/770598869.html

I think it's OK to show this animation for those who love animation.
I think it is not offensive. This is Evgeni. (with English subtitles)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdPMO949DEo
(though it is old, maybe everybody have seen it)

Actually, I think the idea with lezginka is interesting. (Indeed.) Good luck.
