3. The coaching council has nominated Adelina, Julia, and Alena. Now we wait to see if the executive committee gives Alena the nod! In a few hours we shall know.
Excuse my lack of knowledge on the whole selection thing- but it's not based on the results, so like regardless of her finish if the council decided to send Anna Shershak to Euros even though she finished dead last at nationals? I mean technically it is if this is the roster because Alena is the next age eligible, but the words 'council has nominated' to me says there is discretion among who they can send.
Each country has different selection criteria. For Russia, and going to Euros with 3 spots available, it's: the first and second place finishers at Nationals go, and the 3rd spot is decided by the federation.
If the nominee was indeed Shershak, then I'm pretty confident that Leonova, or rather her coach, would file a complaint, citing the fact that the committee has selected the last out of 18 ladies at nationals, without any particular positive performance that might explain their decision...
They have to justify their choice if asked to, but in the end, they make sure their criteria are formulated in a way that allows them to be "covered" either way.
For the Japanese Nationals for example, when deciding between Takahashi, Kozuka and Oda for the 3rd Olympic spot, each one of them would have fulfilled some criteria their rules asked to be on the "list of people they have the full discretion to choose among"...
Have you seen Stranger By The Lake? It's fantastic!
Does it have a soundtrack someone could skate to?
There is no music in the film, either nondiegetic (a musical score) or diegetic (on-screen music).
Hah there are many things you will never understand.
Julia might be more likely to skate clean, but Adelina is the better skater (any non-biased skating enthusiast can see this).
The results of this competition were perfectly fine. The judges even rightfully placed Proklova over Pogorilaya when I was certain they would boost Pogo's PCS.
I think Julia may have left out a jumping pass looking at the protocols possibly and that could explain how she lost - not sure though.
I don't necessarily agree. I think that, after many years, Akiko has found the type of programs that showcase her strengths and hide her weaknesses. What she does she does very well but I don't think the has the artistic breadth of last year's Worlds medalists. Akiko is arguably the fourth best artist today but I think Adelina is close behind, as is Julia. They are just skating the wrong type of programs; I almost think Adelina and Julia would be better off switching their LP music because I can see Julia doing well with more whimsical pieces and Adelina something more mature.
I thought this really just goes without saying.Arguably, Akiko is on the same level artistically as the Top 3 from last years Worlds (or even higher than some of them) and much better than Sotnikova and especially Lipnitskaya.
Are you seriously suggestion that Asada has more artistic breadth than Akiko? Asada the skater who can practically only skate to lyrical classical piano pieces? And Kim, whose artistry I find really just skin-deep..
And I would like to point out, that for the second time this season, Adelina landed all of her 3 flips!
No she didnt
Yes she did. First time in Paris and now at Nationals. Geez
Asada has not skated only to classical lyrical pieces...And I think she has a wide range yes, from her competitive programs to her exhibitions.
Sure. But that's the only type of music that she actually knows how to interpret well.
