I don't think anything really stood out for me in a positive way (that being said I have yet to see the Gala programs)... I was too busy worrying that every jump or twizzle was going to end up in a splat that I couldn't really relax and enjoy. This event was horrible, that ice is cursed!
1, Yuzuru Hanyu's SP (pretty well as close to perfection as most skaters could dream of)
2. Yuzuru Hanyu's FS (which it comes to full perfection, it will be up there with Seimei though...)
3. Junhwan Cha's FS (he makes people like it even when they don't want to!)
4. Boyang Jin's SP (it was one of his best ever apart from the mistake or two... shame about the FS)
5. Michal Brezina's FS (simply because!)
3. Alina Zagitova FINALLY completing her 3Lz-3Lo AFTER the champions had their pictures taken
4. Power Rangers on Ice. :yes2:
5. Whoever the maintenance person is that removes the "Foot Ad" from the boards.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I didn't watch Pairs or Ice Dance, so I can't include anything from those disciplines.
Matteo Guarise in the Gala can't be topped for me!!!!!!
Other impressions:
2. Yuzu (SP, FS, Gala) can't wait to see him live in Moscow!
3. Alina FS
4. Michal Brezina (SP, FS)
5. Hurtado/Khaliavin - good job by Team Zhulin
What is it with Finland and Ice Dance? At Finlandia, the music for S/B stopped for ages. At Helsinki GP they played the wrong music for G/F! :confused2:
The entire weekend in Helsinki was a dream come true for me. Seeing everyone live is such a different experience! There were unbelievable moments of pure ecstasy out of which Hanyu's programs and presence clearly stand out. As Sandra Bezic would say, you cannot really grasp any piece until you see it live. It definitely applies to the the Yuzuru phenomenon, you have to witness it and live it, so to say, in the arena to able to understand it. Kaori also created a moment that I will not forget. I just jumped up. Meeting Kolyada and Bychenko on the corridor was also a big thumbs up for me.
