I agree, Mao has sublime skating skills. I just find it funny that people get bitchy about inflation of scores and skater being held up even when their performances are lackluster, and some of those same people complain when justified scores are given for bad skates to people they like. Mao had a bad skate. She was scored correctly. This shouldn't be controversial.

Apologies for the 3T/3L mix up.

That's true, she was scored corectly. Maybe was slightly underscored on SS today. That's just about it - I think her score is OK considering what she did. Ashley was over-scored on PCS by about a point (especially on SS - in my opinion Satoko also has better SS than Ashley) but I am ok with her being ahead of Mao. Mirai on the other hand was underscored PCS wise. Satoko had the skate of the day and it should have been reflected more at least on her PE score.
The tech specialist was lenient today. Mao's 3F-3Loop was more rotated than Satoko's 3Lz-3T and both got credit for it.

Satoko has improved greatly in her presentation, such a wonderful program, but it still bothers me that she doesn't seem to leave the ice when she jumps, which takes away the drama that should be in Fire. :eek:hwell:

Except for Ashley who skated worse than Mirai or Zhijun, placement is right, though I still love Mao the most.

I am not a hater. I just want everyone to be scored FAIRLY. That combo was NOT rotated...

It was less than 1/4 Ur'ed which means the skater gets the benefit of a doubt. Just IMO. Satoko also got her combo ratified and her's was also very close - it could have gone both ways.

Is it correct that only Myahara skated truly clean? The men where excellent and ladies.....not their day. I'm not a fan of Mayahara but she is usually reliable. So, if someone messes up, she's there. I liked that Raf was non too friendly with Ashley afterwards. She could have gone out 7 points ahead of Mao - ---- Well, tomorrow's another day.

Miahara scoring is unacceptable. She jumps 3Lz<+3T< but judges pretend they don't see her URs.
While other skaters try to jump real triple jumps (and do errors sometimes), Miahara just cheats with huge prerotations and underrotations, but gets a high score because her cheating is never noticed. It's real humiliation of Figure Skating.

I would agree, Mao should usually beat Ashley in PCS. This wasn't a normal day, though. I agree Mirai was underscored. I'll have to rewatch Sakoto, but I did love the performance.

My main problem with PCS is the corridor system they use. They don't differentiate on PCS enough, which makes having 5 separate groups pretty much pointless, if they're not going to use them correctly.

Satoko's combo was also underrotated but i don't see you complaining about that.

PS.: i wasn't referring to you on my last post.

Thanks. Didn't notice that just until now when I rewatch the slowmo. The 3T was UR.

But it's Japan.... Of course Japanese skaters will get the benefit of doubt. It shouldn't be that waym but sigh.... That's just life I guess...

Wow, they ratified Mao's combo, which was clearly UR and prerotated. Oh well... Its Japan. Duh

It was borderline. I think it could have gone either way, and the caller was generous. I am fine with it being ratified, however I don't think it deserved +0.70 GOE due to the less than satisfactory rotation.

Wagner's PCS Ranges from low 8 to high 8
Miyahara's PCS ranges from low 6 to high 8. Got lower SS and Transitions even though she is better than Wagner
Asada's PCS ranges from low 7 to low 9. They gave her high 7 on transitions which i believe is just right. the first part of her program is pretty much empty.

Is it possible for Satoko to improve her jumps, i.e. learn to jump higher or further, or is she maxed out on her jumping ability?

I'm sorry I don't enjoy Hicks' skating either...can't believe this is the second best skate of the SP....poor ladies..

After the Men's who did so well, mostly landed their jumps even quad combos, this is super hard to watch...:disapp:

I can't believe people say Mao's 3F-3L is fully rotated and deserve to be ratified. Must be something wrong with my eyes.

I think her jumps are actually better than last season. But I would like to see one of those great jumpamatrons nonetheless. I think it's actually funny that she gets a ! for her flip this season, when it's actually better than last season, where she never got a ! for it (because she didn't use her left leg for the take-off last season). But as long as the tech panel isn't allowed to use slow-mo for the take-off this won't change. But I think she's getting better.

All the ladies skated as if they were feeling ill at ease. (Even Mirai, who jumped well but the step sequence was pretty wobbly.)

It was not a good competition. Hope the ladies will slay in the free.

Selective much? Satoko, who had a great performance and easily the best skate in the 2nd group, just got beat by Ashley in PCS by about a point - with Ashley actually having worse basic skating skills.

I agree Satokos 3-3 wasn't rotated, but she also wasn't given the highest PCS, like she should have.
