It was borderline. I think it could have gone either way, and the caller was generous. I am fine with it being ratified, however I don't think it deserved +0.70 GOE due to the less than satisfactory rotation.

Not according to the judges, atleast they finally did something right, and I have to say her 3f-3lo is a thing of beauty, I can't count the number of times her 3-3 was fully rotated according to many commentators and skaters and was still called, it's soo nice to see all her hard work and risks finally paying off!

But it's Japan.... Of course Japanese skaters will get the benefit of doubt. It shouldn't be that waym but sigh.... That's just life I guess...

The way the mechanics of a loop jump work forces there to be inherent prerotation, and this effect is absolutely magnified when you're attaching a loop as a backend jump to a combination. Mao's triple-triple was fine and landed absolutely backwards.

I don't think anyone is saying the combo was fully rotated... that's just delusional But it seemed to be right at the cusp of 1/4 UR and the caller was more lenient than others... it is definitely better than the one at CoC though

No matter how Mao skates, she will always be attacked with bogus Ur. 3a was Ur, British Eurosport guys called it too. And then they praised her 3F-3L. The specialists ratified it too. I watched the replay on slow motion 5 times. Flip was rotated. The loop was less than 1/4 Ur'ed. This means the jump gets full credit.

EDIT: Mao is struggling with the lutz because she is trying to do it from am outside edge. She is courageous for doing it in the Sp even if she fails it. I hope she'll land it correctly some day, this seems to be one of her goals. She already has all the titles in the world minus the Olympic title. And the Olympics are in 2018

Did you even watch the slowmo? The loop was not "absolutely" backwards.

At least Medvedeva actually rotates her jumps and places them in the second-half getting her bonus. I don't agree with the PCS tho.

I don't know, I think it's more than 1/4. Borderline on flip, but her Loop... really?

That Wagner girl actually scored higher PCS than Mao. Like she is not even in Sotnikova's league much less Asada.

OK, I'll bite. Ashley has the most complex program - and, she's trying things interpretation wise that are more difficult than the others - the dancing, the shoulders, acting right into the elements. Unlike her Moulin program there is not one moment when something is not happening. Some people may not like it, but I think judges reward when you are pushing even non-technical areas.

As others have said Mao is not an automatic anymore. Though, she seems not to get upset, will fix whatever and come back strongly. I think Ashley will be better tomorrow, too. Finish - Mao, Ashley Myhara.
