TGee do you expect to get more info about development opportunities for northern skaters after Skate Canada's AGM? Surely SO must listen to what the fed says.

It looks like Matt may want to just do senior competitions. Maybe Challenger Series. There are quite a few junior men who would be on the JGP. Did anyone spot Beres Clements at Next Gen camp?

No idea about SO...they seem to be very confident that they totally know what they're doing.

On Matt... yes his birthday was earlier this spring...

But this does show a gap in terms of support for those who aren't on the typical developmental track.

Not sure if Matt's done growing, but having his peak growth in his first season as a junior put him in at a disadvantage compared to those who peaked either before or after that.

Our top junior pair team (Walsh/Michaud) will age out since Michaud will turn 22 next season even though Walsh is 17. However, does anyone know if Matte/Ferland will continue since Ferland has another year of junior eligibility, because I don't think they are at this camp.

Edit: nevermind, i didn't realized Matte would age out since she turns 19 on June 30th. 1 day away from the deadline.

too bad they are aging out because injuries and coaching change really held them back in the first 2/3 of the season.... oh well.. i like them but now that maxime and francis are free i have lots of dreams, including them skating together.. ok.. i stop it ;) :slink:

That 2026 Team has so much potential if people stay healthy and competitive. M/T in pairs, D'A/W and L/L in ice dance, any or all of Jo, Conrad, and Stephen in men, and who knows who will rise from the ladies. Maybe Alison will get it together in 8 years.

Actually now that I think about it maybe Cricket Club will want to dominate on all fronts? They've got Next Gen skaters in all disciplines...I think they're the only club in Canada who can say that. :eeking:

I'm not sure about what other young teams Gadbois has but as I mentioned previously they aren't dominating at the lower ranks. L/L and F/M-P will age out or go senior in the next few seasons. D'A/W have more time to spend in juniors to establish themselves though the Gadbois teams will get to settle in seniors (and try to beat their own team mates for spots on 4CC/Worlds teams which is going to be another dogfight).

M/T are ahead of most pairs in Quebec. As novice skaters they have triples. Andrew Evans used to skate with Julianne so I know he knows all about the great pairs skating in Quebec. I don't expect St-Leonard to sit still though. :) I personally find QC pairs to be polished but needing to up their tech. Once Meagan gets involved I'm sure we'll see them pushing that envelope too.

once meagan gets in there... yeah.. let's just wait and see. mervin and his "american tryout" just landed SBS 3f.... and coach andrew evans said " long gone the times a team needed a 2a and a 3t... ... mervin said " i blame meagan and eric"

McIntosh/Toste. They are national novice champs and you did watch them at Egna. :p

They've got a triple twist and a now we've seen a throw triple loop.

They're still young and kinda small so their skating style isn't showy. It's almost...kawaii in some way. But it's neat.

There's one crazy pairs fan (not on this site) who watches younger Canadian pairs like a hawk and is definitely biased towards the QC pairs. But his socks were knocked off by M/T this season. He rightly pointed out that they, along with the other novice pairs, were better than many of the junior pairs that competed at Nationals this year.

I've been watching them since pre-novice and I liked their little programs so I too am biased but I respect the tech first and foremost.

Well, the fed wants the tech too so we're on the same page for once. :)

Any news on what Meagan is doing? I think I hear her say she was interested in training as a technical specialist?
