The URS were pretty glaring though. I don't think he had much choice.

Yes, probably. But It's kinda bad when you have two U.S. tech specialist and they can't even give you a whiff of a pass or benefit of the doubt.

Bless Tom Z, but I think his little manifesto only had the TS just check Vincent's jumps more closely.

I would enjoy Uno Shoma's SP much, much more if his costume didn't make him look like an eggplant...

The FS will be very interesting. I need a shower.

I wonder what this will mean for US Nats.

Well, prior to this they basically gave Satoko the same score Liza (with clean 3A) got, put Mihara in 3rd (over clean Eunsoon) and Kihira in 5th (over clean Leonova), so

Not to bring over stuff from ladies, but if you think Liza's skating is even comparable to Satoko, well, there's nothing to discuss. Satoko could've had a 10-point gap on Liza's PCS, and that's me being generous to Liza. TES-wise, Satoko has always had generous tech calls, even in America aginst their national champion, so here in Japan it wasn't any more or less egrerious. While Eunsoo was lovely, Mai's skating and flow outclassed her here (not a slight towards Eunsoo at all, this is her GP debut). I agree her ! Lz call was bogus, but I would have Mai at clearly higher PCS. I suppose Rika could've gotten << for the 3A, but PCS was correct IMO. Leonova and her would still be close.

So yeah, I don't really see a lot of home inflation by Japan here TBH. Shoma just got Shoma-ish GOE.

Shoma has always been a hit and miss with me, guess I'm prob still a little salty that he won silver instead of Javi at the Olympics this year

I didn't say it was a lot of home inflatation, but it was just enough and just like everywhere else  (I mean, they could give one point less to all the Japanese ladies and two point less to Shoma. It would not change that much their chances prior to free skate but it would change the overal picture about home judging a lot ;) )

Sergei was GREAT !!! :agree:

So ... predictions on when we'll see Shoma do a fully clean short? Because it has so much potential

Lombardia Trophy

Even if there was a 2T instead of a 3T :confused2:

You are so right. Maybe they should create a spring version of Lombardia so that Shoma can get a new world record  but it just could be so brilliant, I'd love to see it actually happen....

I just checked the 2018 Olympics protocols. Vincent had one underrotation on a triple toe in the sp and one underrotation on a 4Lz in the long (a five triple long). Were they easy on him then or are they hard on him now? This differential should technically be a result of the no ratification if exactly 1/4 short of rotation....after all, how many of Vincent's jumps were/are exactly 1/4 short?

The rule about UR is changed! Prior to this season 1/4 short of rotation was not consider as a UR jump, now it is.

I know....but really, how many of his jumps are/were exactly 1/4. I think he has become the isu poster boy for punishing imperfect jumps under the new system.

Shoma's SP is really good! --When he does it to it's potential it will knock the audiences socks off. Maybe he's saving the good one for the GPF. :agree:

Well, I caught up and...….yikes
- Not going to waste my energy on Shoma's scores. We all know. I still think it's a great short program.
- Good for Sergei! GPF is looking like an ever clearer possibility. I think it really will be 1/2 Quad Kings and 1/2 Uncles.
- Dima :slink: I don't know why men from Saint Petersburg seem intent on breaking people's hearts. But, hey, he's still in medal position and could even move up in the free. (in other news, I don't think I'm ever not going to laugh at the dramatic head shake choreo, sorry)
- I know you should never compare scores across competitions and I know my boy didn't deliver when it counted, but Mikhail's Helsinki score would have had him 3rd here :palmf:
- Matteo is lovely!!! He could sneak in for a medal and I wouldn't mind at all.
- Deniss' pants hurt my eyes and his missed combo hurt my heart.

I feel that Liza belongs to that group maybe not strictly by age, but by the experience of lows and ups, being back in the competition after rocky season, trying to raise again. I love revival of all these skaters!

That was why I was hesitant in including her. Because, at 21, she is still young. But, she is definitely one of the most experienced skaters out there.

I think everybody loves a good comeback. And, nice girl that she is, Liza is trying to make us all happy by having her second one!

Zhou's 3T in the combo that was clearly UR was surprisingly NOT called. He definitely got a pass there. So....

Genuine question, did Shoma not touch down with his other foot on the 3A? Because it really looked like he did but then he got lots of +5s so I guess not?
