Even I know who she is, though I did not read any of her stories. Till now from Kir Bulychev I've read only - well, I believe russian title is Посёлок, in my country it was published under the name The Earth Is Too Far.

At the age of 12, I was fell in love with Alice  Moreover, I fell in love with the book version of Alice, not with the movie version :) Sorry for offtop, but "Visitor from the Future" caused childhood memories :)

I was referring to the pop/dance music duo of the early 2000's " Gosti iz Budushchego ", didn't know it was a book, but could have guessed of course.

With the 3A, Khrustalniy's original Awesome Aces that were once themselves visitors from the future of figure skating now advancing into senior rank, their spaceship has more or less landed safely and vested their reputation solidly in the ice rinks of the world.

Khrustalniy harbours a magic crystal that draws any young skater that possesses The Right Stuff irrevocably towards its rink, where he or she will be met by people that make them work hard, teach them every element in the rule book and send them out to compete for glory and praise the world over, fully prepared not to fail. The female Khrustalniy skaters have All the Quads in the World at the moment and the current Olympic and World Champions, National Champions, Junior Grand Prix Gold Medalist.

Having long untameable hair might perhaps help, but it is the Force Within each young visitor that drives them forwards, propels them to ever greater heights, makes them overcome any fear.

Do the Khrustalniy skaters actually rest? I suppose all kids get send home during summer school break and have a short family vacation while the ice surface is thawed and the rink refurbished before being frozen again. But with the first junior and senior Grand Prix events almost coinciding with the start of the new school year, new competitive routines must be prepared even while ordinary kids have their long summer holidays. The Khrustalniy skaters return to the ice by the attraction of that magic crystal as soon as possible.

Sofia is definitely the one to watch. Everything for her seems to be ideal, small skinny build, great expression, and based on what I saw on the ice age kids show, she is also very mature for her age. She may remain tiny after puberty. She has everything a champion needs. If I want to nitpick, she could improve her spins because it is the only thing that does not have an wow factor yet.

Sofia is amazing. I mean, she's ELEVEN! And her jumps aren't teeny tiny either. Her 3axel is big and looks like the technique is sound and has the potential to get bigger as she grows (in contrast to Alysa Liu who I fear will lose her 3a as soon as she grows even a little). Has there ever been an 11 y/o female skater that has a 4toe and 3axel? Is Eteri the jump coach who is teaching them these jumps? Or is there a jump specialist taking care of that? It's just amazing how many skaters under Eteri have some phenomenal jumping ability (in addition to good skating skills). Very impressive.

Tomorrow Kamila Valieva will be 13 (birthdate is 26 April 2006). It will be a time to re-open her fanfests thread (if moders read us).

oh yes, yay! speaking of Kamila, I heard she was keeping her sp for next year, which is definitely not surprising. I usually like when people get new programs, but I think this was a good decision seeing that its such a beautiful program that hasn't been competed internationally yet :). (I'm not completely sure, but one of her fan pages on Instagram said so and they got the information from VK apparently).

not sure if you mean that in this way but the idea that staying tiny helps you become a champion is really not good for the health of skaters. there are tons of successful ladies who are clearly mature women. it's just unnecessary pressure on the girls to remain thin through puberty when they should be growing bigger. i haven't seen any evidence that being small gives you an advantage, just look at how much better alina's jumps have been getting after bulking up. i'm pretty sure one of the reasons why sasha's 4T is so great is because she's got so much muscle.

i just wish we could be more conscious of the fact that growing bigger isn't a bad thing, it's completely natural. staying thin and tiny isn't something that should be glamorized. obviously this doesn't apply to skaters like lilbet who are tiny naturally

I would be very very disappointed if we didn't get to see this SP at JGP and didn't hear Ted commentary about it.. ;)

That would be wonderful! Eteri also said it's her favourite program this season, so no wonder she's on board with keeping it as well.

So I saw that video of the guy landing a 5T with the rod, and I thought "Now there's a worthy competitor for Sasha"

Agree with this and also wish that extreme flexibility wouldn't be so emphasized... it's to the point of contortionism now and past a certain point not so nice to look at and has detrimental effects on long-term joint health as well.

"Tiny" does not mean keeping weight down with extreme measures, nor did I mean weight alone. Eteri said she prefers to train small skaters in both height and weight. I think Wakaba is tiny. I said Sofia has those advantages, but I didn't say one MUST to be tiny be successful. It is also disrespectful to speculate one's diet or health just based on appearance. Genes play a significant part in one's body type.

The fact someone does not appear skinny does not mean that person does not have strict diet and healthy either. Didn't Adelina mention she has one meal a day recently, and she has never looked unhealthy.
