As for who gets to skate in the rostelecom gala it would make sense to start marketing someone who will be jgp eligible next season and has a chance to be a top contender (like Valieva last year). So my best bet it Sofia S. She was also on ice age kids last year with Sofia A and did well there as well as also finally hitting that 3A in comp.

But that being said I think Sofia A and Veronika Z would be good choices as well so maybe they will chose more than one.

I just realized, the two young Sofia's are currently the only one's that will compete at JNats (if Sonia S qualifies ) with triple axels, and both plan them in the sp. Of course, I'm sure the likes of Valieva, Sinitsyna, etc. will still be scored above them if clean, but they still have the possibility to be pretty high in the ranks after the sp.

Also, does anyone have/know how to get height data on either of their 3As? Akatieva's looks quite large to me, but I can't tell if thats just a trick of the eye. I guess that doesn't matter as long as the jump looks beautiful, but I'm still curious.

A triple Axel from Sophia Data from September 5
Height 47-49 cm
The rotation speed is about 6.10-6.20 rpm. per second
Dialed with a slight delay (about 0.25 sec)

You Data from September 15
Height: 48-49 cm
Twist: 5.5 - 5.6 rps
Preparing to jump: 6 sec

Liza Data from September 15
Height: 54-55 cm
Twist: 5.2 - 5.3 rps
Preparing to jump: 6.5 sec

Rika Data from September 15
Height: 50-51 cm
Twist: 5.4 - 5.5 rps
Preparing to jump: 3 sec

Alena Data from October 14
Height: 55-56 cm combo and 50 cm solo
Twist: 5.25 - 5.35 rps
The delay is ~0.28 sec
Pause between steps and jump ~2.75 sec

Thank you, this is interesting data! No surprise that Alena's is the highest (and out of the most difficult entry :)). And little Sofya's isn't too much smaller than Rika's and about the same size as Young's. Thats pretty good. I suppose the extra time she has due to rotating so quickly makes it look even bigger. Either way imo its a nice jump.

3A is the most beautiful jump for me. Note "Data from September 5".

Now the height can be higher.

I have my fingers crossed that Zhenya can get on the podium. I'd be happy with two clean (or clean enough) programs for her and that should get her a medal anyway.

Sasha will probably quad her way to victory and in typical Sasha style, I love her this season, she's a breath of fresh air to me, look how shaken up she has the skating world, positive and negative.

Those who fear her try to pull her down and she's like "Lol no @##%s given"

Not going to specifically talk about Rostelecom practice but more of a general observation of Zhenya across many practices.

Her technique looks better, at least in practice it does. Some of her 2As are actually really good. She seems to revert to her old ways in the pressure of competition though.

unfortunately that is just part of the process of changing technique and muscle memory. when you're nervous and stiff it's habit to go back to old muscle memory.

but you're correct, many areas of her skating are obviously improved in practice. it will just take a while to manifest in competition.

Alexandra just said she'd prefer to compete with men, because this way she'd be allowed to do quads in SP

Brian is doing a good job with her. I do not understand those who say it's not working, she shouldn't have gone to him/should switch coaches again.

She looks more relaxed and comfortable in his team, she went into this knowing there was no quick fix, that it will take time and probably quite a lot of it.

Like Mao Asada, she had quite a lot of poor results before she was able to show the fruits of her own technical overhaul.

Maybe she could. Do you think there's an ISU communication out there that defines a man and a lady? Maybe Rusfed should just enter her into a man's event at a challenger to see what would happen
