Honestly with the consistency issues many of these skaters have this time tomorrow we could all be like “remember when Evgenia was in 7th place and came back and won?” Ice is slippery and weirder things have happened.

In 2015 Liza won silver after being 7th after the SP.

Just sayin'!

Nah, TAT is being friendly.
She is upset, but she is being as supportive as an upset TAT can be.

She didn't even call Zhenya fat as she usually does when a skater bombs

Yes, I remember how she said on the SA that someone from American or Canadian (I don't remember who) need to lose weight. I laughed because I remembered someone saying here that TAT behaves like a school bully "Yeah?.. Well... you are fat!! "

I really like the "new" Evgenia. The program is gorgeous. This was just a bad day in the office. She is an exceptional human. I hope she does not lose confidence in her skating. It was just an unfortunate take off. This day looked like cursed. in the morning my kitchen sink showed signs of clogging, then when I tried to clean the spritzer I lost a washer (or how is it called), but the result was each time I opened the water faucet, the spritzer was shooting water around its parts. That coupled with the clogging was enough to get me out of my mind. Bref, I eventually found the washer, fixed the spritzer. The clogging needs a specialist. Than came skating. Shoma hit his head in the boards, Carolane S/Firus, fell, and so did my beloved couple Piper and Paul. When signs seemed to go well, with Alaine and Alicia, the unexpected fall from Evgenia was the cherry on cake.

Oh, I forgot Jason, Roman at al

Also, quite unrelated, but I just watched Adelina the other day (came up on my Youtube recommendation) and boy she really needed to come back to teach those ladies how to do an illusion. Some of the illusions today are just downright disastrous ...

So true. you could literally count on 1 hand the number of people with half-decent illusions.

I love how TAT calls everybody fat because well... I mean, have you seen her?
You could make 4 figure skaters out of her.

It’s a good thing I have wine at my house so I can drink my anxiety watching tomorrow.

Hopefully Med and Jason can motivate each other. I feel badly for Evgenia, great skaters have off days, and I think we all forget how hard figure skating is. I’ve been skating for over 20 years and yesterday I fell on a back 3-turn... (which is about as embarrassing as it sounds). A bad skate doesn’t make someone less of a skater. Bombing the LP at Worlds didn’t change how wonderful a skater Alina is. All our favorites- from Yuna, Yuzuru, Javi, Nathan, Shoma and down the line have had bad skates. Missing a combo is not the death knell of anyone’s season. I feel bad for Evgenia because she really hasn’t had to deal with this before- but I believe she’ll learn from it and end up stronger.

About 5 or so years ago, my friend (who was a teenager at the time), fell doing 3-turns while warming up. She fractured her hip (she fell forward and landed sideways on her hip). She was had double axels yet had a serious injury just warming up. It happens.

Well, all the same she does not need to jump. And the meaning of what she says is correct. Only she does not need to say it in SUCH a way. As when she said that Radionova is fat and nobody would need her. And in addition, it was at the general meeting of the national team! Imagine that? "I say this in front of the whole meeting." It was cruel and wrong.

Did Liza get some of highest GOE for her jumps tonight so far this season at the senior level? I think Mishin motivated her to keep on skating because the new rule is in her favor. Tonight it seems judges like high jumps rather than transitions into jumps.

I was sadly right about Evgenia - what a disaster. I hope Eteri is not gloating. I feel so bad for her. I really wanted it to work. I know she has her fans but she isn't the same:( The jumps, the confidence, the polish. Bring back the old Evgenia. Barely 9 mos and she unrecognizeable. Good job by Liza and Wakaba is maybe in the driver seat now. Lilabet really isn't impressing much only because though I have been waiting for her to be a star. Speaking of Starr - she was fantabulous as weas Mariah. So yay Japan and USA. Poor Russia - two of their ladies were just decimated here. But good on Liza. And good job Canada for not being last - so far.

I don't know calling someone "fat" is really offensive in Russia.
I know here in American it is very offensive, but I know some Asian friends, and they don't think so in their country.
The fact that TAT can call someone "fat" on TV indicates the situation may be similar to some Asian countries.
Or she is just the Russian's Joan Rivers, making hilarious comments all the time for humor effects.

I agree with the parts of your post that I have highlighted above. However, I'm certain the meaning behind those snippets is exactly opposite.

I think she is, in every way, a more enjoyable skater to watch than she was.

Before, I admired her technique in a rather clinical way. Tonight, I loved watching her skate.

I think she actually is lowballed in jump GOE here. That lutz should have been more than a +3. Her components aren't great though, and it makes sense with the lack of transitions, choreo, and anything really.

In russia, people are way stricter about weight. In fact, if you are anything other than weight = height (in cm) - 110, people may easily pester you about how chubby and overweight and ugly you are, and how you should take care of yourself better.

I think most of her lost levels came after the combo fail. So she just technically phoned in the rest of the performance.

I haven't been her biggest fan in years past, but oddly enough, hers is the only performance tonight that I'll bother to rewatch. I really like her evolution is style. She skated with more personality and freedom than I've ever seen.

It was beautiful until things came apart at the end. But still glorious.

Tuk's 3A was a marvel, but I thought the program had a plodding feel to it. That tango music didn't help - she didn't bring life to it, so it drug her down. IMO, of course.

You know, it's so weird, I'm the same. Other than that dumb mistake, I found her magical. And I really haven't much before except for her LP at the Olympics. I've found her perfect many, many times- but I found (almost all) of this program so much more...more :)
