I clearly remember watching it the year Lipnitskaya won with her R&J #1 (so it must have been 2012)... It was also quite a good-quality stream I think

What Russian Junior Nationals mean

1. Qualifying competition for Junior Worlds. Best of age eligible earn spots in JrWorlds team (sometimes medalist of SrNats does not compete at JrNats but has spot too - Sotnikova at 2012, Radionova at 2014, both were reigning JrWorlds Champions too).

2. Results of JrNats mean much for spots at JGP next season.
Also are treated results of Nationals Elder Age.
On results of these two competitions (and other national-level competitions too) is made team for summer Test Skate, where RusFed sees level and readiness and makes final choice.

3. On results of JrNats is formed Junior part of Team Russia (also are treated results of internationals - JGP and JrWorlds, and national level competitions - Final of Russian Cup and Nationals Elder Age).
