Well, in Riga 'Little Boss Man' Daniil Samsonov showed his promise, but also showed there is still lots to learn in how to deal with pressure. A Bronze is still a good result, but Daniil himself will surely be disappointed over his falls and other mishaps.

They cannot put him anywhere as he is not a sub to any of the events. You cannot sub a skater in if they are not on the substitution list. Therefore he will not get a JGP event.

That can be truth to senior because of the ranking not for juniors... you have kostornaia in her first season

isn't he? i had heard somewhere he is the son of a former Soviet skater.

His coach, Alexander Volkov, is the son of Sergei Volkov who is a former World Champion. Kovalev is not related to any skater I know of.

Did Makar keep his SP from last season?

No, he has a new program.

I was able to log out of VK and still able to see these videos. YT has put up a block.

I like pretty much all the programs choreography-wise, all skaters had decent physical condition and good speed, not many quads landed though.

Makar Ignatov - clearly the best here. two quads, step out on the toe loop but very good position in the air, huge height and distance, i like his entry into the quad sal. Program was decent, good posture.

Sergei Voronov - Classic Voronov style program, he engages the audience well, i like his resurgence late in the career. Technical contents the same as last season which i mean isn't too bad for what he's going for, keeping the consistency.

Alexander Samarin - this might be the first program i like from him, it's more refined than his previous ones, i appreciate the willing to bring some new spin positions as well, not all of them were aesthetically pleasing though. Technical content is very ambitious, we'll have to see if he can skate clean with both 4ltz and 4flip, good effort here still things to improve.

Andrei Lazukin - I like the program, lots of improvements in speed, performance and skating skills from last season, fell on the quad toe and only 2a here.

Roman Savosin - Again nice program, he's committed to perform, only triple jumps here, all clean, step out on the 3a.

Kolyada - Jumps weren't there, he ditched the donut spin variation which i liked, super skating skills and transitions (even better than last season), the program is good.

Aliev - oh boy, what is happening to this guy? He used to have a very nice triple axel technique, now it's often off axis, quad toe also used to be good. He's a great skater but without the elements it's tough.

Thank you so much, i just couldn't find them anywhere else

No surprises here... :scratch2:

yeah it's a little disappointing although this is not an official competition.

We'll see cause if this was Nationals, someone like Ignatov would have been ahead of him of like 30 points (almost clean program with 2 quads vs no quad and no 3a)

I've enjoyed seeing Makar Ignatov for years now and I'm thrilled that he's a senior now. His test skates were very impressive. Landed every Axel and every quad beautifully (except for the step out on the 4T in the short). Excited to see him rise up the ranks in Mens singles skating!

For Ignatov the test skates were crucial for getting a GP assignment. For the others its just an open practice session with nothing riding on it.

True but realistically i can totally see some of those skaters who bombed or left points here doing exactly the same at competitions, we saw it in the past seasons over and over. Just rewatch Kolyada's SP at the Team Event in Pyeongchang.

So yes for now it doesn't count but it will very soon.

That said Aliev was much better in the free, that's promising.

Well, I'm never expecting anything from Kolyada, but he keeps surprising me with decent skates every now and again--for the past four Worlds he's been the leading Russian man, which might not be much to write home about, but it's something. If it's time for one of the other guys to finally rise to the occasion, I'm all for that.

But people have been promising me that's going to happen for two seasons now. And it hasn't yet.

:confused2:

I would say Aliev was rather good this time, he popped only one jump and didn't fall. But russian men are in need of a strong and reliable leader that would drag the others.

BTW Daniil finally smiled when he was on the podium :)

The podium was a view. Baby Daniil is adorable.
I think he's very talented not only in TES, but more so on PCS and has a real performer talent. He will do better next time, I believe in him.
In the meantime, my man Kolyada keeps making me regret rooting for him  Ah, Mikhail, when will you show your full potential?
