I'm so happy that I had to hug my pillow like I'm hugging someone tight. #sorrynotsorry

This Russian team is so lovely. What was that move they did at the end? It wasn't a lift, was it? It was cool.

i think that was a choreographic dance lift. It is not considered as a lift but as a compulsory choreo move in the free dance.

So there ended up being only an 0.91 difference between 1st and 2nd. One extended lift by McNamara/Carpenter and we'd have Parsons/Parsons with gold.

This.

And I kind of want at least one of them to grab one of the 2018 spots even though it's less likely, given the logjam that is US Senior Dance.

That's alright. They're all still very young. Lorraine won't even be in her 20's yet and none of the 4 will be older than 22 when the 2018 Olympics happen. They still have time.

Shpilevaya/Smirnov had great Junior World debut finishing 5th(well 4th-6th is almost a tie). If they continue their consistency next season their PCS will most likely rise and they will be one of the frontrunners next season. I really fell in love with them.
Finally a Russian pair in juniors who are equally matched in terms of technique, look, ice presence and etc. Many people praised Y/M last season, but Anna still(IMO) a weak link. I personally watche them live in Tallinn, and she was noticably slower and weaker than him. Well S/Z, S/B, M/Kh and etc all had some mismatched qualities. I also enjoy L/D, but Alla often rushes which really disturbs me. Maybe different program would help. P/V, sorry, I don't see bright future for them, posture, inconsistency, too much expression. They can have hard time turning Seniors.

So, which teams must go Senior next season? and which teams can remain Junior but might go Senior?

Both the Parsons and McNamara/Carpenter have one more season left of eligibility. But honestly, it'll be a little silly if they remain juniors next year. Sure, the senior field is jammed-packed for US ice dancing with like....too many to count.....teams that are world-class, but honestly, they're ready. Both teams have scored scores you would see in the senior circuit. It might be wise to start next season as senior. Sure they're not going to overtake Chock/Bates and the ShibSibs next year, but it'll be good for them to start experience as soon as possible so they'll be ready by 2022 (Sheesh I'm going to be 26 when those Olympics happen). Because with a jammed ice dance field for seniors in the USA, it's going to be hard to break out immediately. After the 2017-2018 season, Chock/Bates, the Shib Sibs, and Hubbell/Donohue might retire, which will leave a new generation up for that quad. M/C and the Parsons could be (And most likely will be) part of it.

Wow that sounded like a storybook.

I might be wrong but... I do not see a bright future for the Parsons. However, M/C seem quite promising.
We will see whether my gutt feeling is right, only time will tell
