And dear Lord, why do all the men have to act like they're going to a Samba Wake? There are other colors besides Black. Many many many other colors. Heck at this point I'd even settle for a pocket square in another color.

My 2 cents or 4;

1. I really like the Danes, really like them. Their scores can and should get closer to the 70 mark!!! Yes judges you need to
back them up!!
2. I am really looking forward to what C/B, C/L, the Shibs bring.
3. P/C were not bad today, but they didn't grab me. I think V/M have them beat hands down in the short.
4. I found S/B okay. They should be concerned about going head to head with teams like Coomes and Buckland because their
dance is empty and disjointed. Their skating skills are fine but against more sophisticated and cohesive programs they will not
fare so well as they did today. But they did look happy with what they did today and that's always nice to see.

I see your point. I think the couples and music choices we are discussing and will be discussing this year (PC, VM) are not quite that extreme. Most of their pop or rock music does not have a beat added but was originally recorded with it (but I understand this was not your main point).

All in all, I don't think these particular couples are stretching the boundaries and rules too much. We'll have to wait and see if ISU decides they need to be more clear in their rules and decide to phrase them so that music has to fit the spirit of the required rhythms as well.

Admittedly I have yet to see P/C's SD, so I genuinely do hope they make it work. I'm a huge fan. But I still think saying Ed Sheeran and latin dance have any kind of relationship that isn't tenuous at best, is like saying Chef Boyardee is fine Italian cuisine.

YMMV of course.

Maybe i have stayed up too long but this team makes me wish that there is a 2017/2018 version of the Flintstones where Wilma is an ice dancer(its the dots in her costume)

Ok, I'm quite new in the figure skating world and, for sure, I don't fully understand the scoring system yet. But can you give me your opinions about McNamara&Carpenter's sd? They were the first ice dancers I saw on youtube a few months ago and I actually started to enjoy ice dance because of them. So since then I really support them and hope that they'll stand on the podium in the future. I watched them at the Lake Placid International and ACI. They got really good scores at the first event, now it seems a bit overscored to me but I still think their skating was great. After watching ACI, I was a little bit dissapointed, because their score was a bit lower than at the LPI, but still, it was good. And today I got the impression that it was their best skate of the three they had so far and they didn't get even 60 points. I know it depends on the judges and I probably don't see many things, but I want to know, what do you think about this performance. Do you agree with the score? Sorry if I made any mistake, English is not my first language :)

Really like Popova and partner - surprised they were not marked higher

Like M/C they're new, and there is still the residual hangover of "you have to earn your scores" in ID, though COP has done more for getting rid of that nonsense than in any of the other skating disciplines.

Oh Bettina, you never fail to entertain. Polka dots may be on trend, but the costume is hideous. And while you've learned to reign in your tendency to over-emote to a very alarming degree for the most part, you are still pushing the "expression" into the red at numerous points in this dance. But one thing you can say for all the Russian IDs--they always have such terrific fundamentals. They still need time to gel, but this is a couple to keep an eye on.

Omg, I've just seen Papadakis/Cizeron. What was that? :O
I think it's the first of all of their programs that I don't like.... The music cut is just .... and her dress I don't find it suitable with the music at all.

They have good basics, they're JWC and JGPF winners. However, their last junior season went not that well. They made mistakes, looked sloppy and overall skated worse than before. Probably ms.McNamara growth issues played some part in that. They lost their #1 US junior team spot and some reputation along with that. Now they seem to mostly overcome their problems, but they have lost all the momentum they had. They're fresh out of juniors senior team. If they continue to skate well their score will go up.

I like her costume, it's something different and more important suits her and the program :).
