Maria KAZAKOVA / Georgy REVIYA
Country: Georgia
Music: Tango: Building the Bullet by Luis Bacalov; Tango: Assassin's Tango (from "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" soundtrack) by John Powell
Choreography by: Nikolai Nikonov, Igor Alferov
Costumes: Basic black dress with bling for her, red shirt and black pants for him

Required Elements:

Twizzles - set one with both hands on blades. Nicely done. level 3 for her, level 4 for him.
AT Pattern - nice depth of edges and closeness. 7 Yes 1 T for KPs. They upped their game considerably.
Curve Lift - secure with a lovely entrance, very musical.
ML St Seq. -

The basics here are quite good but it was less Argentine than trad European tango. But they've got something. Keep an eye on them.

Score: 65.42 and a well deserved SB.

Still upset about the PCS for Oona and Gage. Yes they're little but they have huge presence (her especially)
And it means that they won't be in the final group because of it :(

Emmy BRONSARD / Aissa BOUARAGUIA
Country: Canada
Music: Tango: "El Choclo;" Quickstep: "Let's Face the Music and Dance" by Irving Berlin
Choreography by: Marie-France Dubreuil
Costumes: Lovely bright yellow dress with with cut out back and waist appliques for her, Basic black for him

Required Elements:

Sharp opening steps that scream,, NO this really IS a tango. And into
AT Pattern - nice closeness with 5 yeses on the KPs. That's a huge advance from last time.
Twizzles - Huge coverage on 1st set but he lost his balance in the third. Level 4 for her; level 2 for him
ML St Seq to quickstep. Man did they come alive for this. Level 2. Throw a pepperpot in there and I will be very happy. Loves me a good pepperpot. :)
Stationary Lift - level 4. Nicely done. She's in a full split and he drops down to a very low position. Emmy's smile says, Gravity? What gravity?

The Charm Princess is BACK! It's two! two! two separate dances in one! The tango I'm still not buying at all, but the quickstep was again quite good and bubbly. She's just charm galore. But it is in NO WAY an integrated dance. No way.

Still keep an eye on these two. She made me smile she's so charming.

Score: 53.72 A Bit down from last time.

Re U&N: It is maybe the choppy stepping and bent knees for that angular look that makes one think flamenco more than tango. I expect matched lines and huge extension, ala Usova and Zhulin for tango.

Yeah, for me it looked more as a electro hip-hop program  But, thats what ISU tech comittee asked from skaters - not all the dances to look as literal tango programs (pattern need to be tango, but not the whole program)! Brounsard/Bouaragua for example had swing elements in their program...

I'm still lost. The second Russian team.. were they in line to go the GPF? Had we seen them before? Am I still asleep?

They were silver at Bratislava, behind K/N, so yes, they were in line. It looks like K/R will go (also have a silver) unless they bomb

Spot on. There's just enough tango in that to pay lip service to the rules, but it's a flamenco. Let's be honest.

Judge 2 was not impressed with the Browns. Just 5's in all the categories of PCS.

I'm sad about S/N, I adore them and I wanted to see them at Vancouver. But mistakes are mistakes, and K/R was much better. Also would've liked to see higher scores for the Browns, they are lovely to watch. Overall I was too drowsy and too preoccupied to fully appreciate the skating here, but I did see a lot of great skating and dancing. Hope everybody will be at their best for their FD (especially the Uzbek team, I do really hope they're okay :(), and now I need to reboot myself for the ladies.

BTW.. why was Ted saying it was a shocking result right before the ice resurfacing? Was it the placement of the Russians or the Americans? The Russian team was only 12 in jrs. at their nationals.

It was shocking that the Russians were in third and pretty much dug themselves an impossibly deep hole. Looks like they won't be making the finals. The Ukrainians in 4th IS a big surprise. So is the Canadians in third.

Less of a surprise when you look at the tech panel. A relatively weak assistant techr from Armenia, and the other from Canada. The controller from Italy, so neutral,
