Hmm, who will win here, I wonder?

The race for silver looks interesting, though. You’ve got two top 10 teams with injury issues and then some up-and-comers.

I'm just excited to see Hawayek & Baker!!!

I second this, along with Deniss Vasiljevs debut of the season they are ones I anticipate the most :), I very much look forward how they and Chock/Bates look like after moving to Montreal (and I hope to see them in Grenoble live as there is a crazy plan to go there)

So this is a big deal here. If Zagorski & Guerreiro can grab the silver here, they will most likely outrank everyone else trying to make the Final if Sinitsina & Katsalapov defeat Gilles & Poirier again in France. If Hawayek & Baker or the Parsons defeat Zagorski & Guerreiro for the silver medal here, they could earn their own way into the Final in France. (I believe a top 4 finish for them in France with a good enough score would be enough if Sinitsina & Katsalapov defeat Gilles & Poirier in France--though that would pend how Hurtado & Khaliavin place & score in Russia).

I just really want Fear/Gibson to get a seasons best. If they can keep improving then I’ll be happy.

I hope it is a clerical error. I have not heard about a withdrawal.

Wow, would that be an earthquake. Whoever takes gold here would be guaranteed a Finals place. And ooh, what a scramble the Final itself would be.

If true, it will be interesting to see if they’re out of IdF too.

I feel like this is gonna kill Piper and Paul’s chance at GPF
Depends on whether they’re out of IdF too. If they are, then nothing has changed, and it comes down to whether they beat Sinitsina/Katsalapov for gold there.

If P/C make it to France, then it’s over for their chances unless Sinitsina/Katsalapov not only come third but do so with a major error that allows them to be beaten via the points tiebreaker (which, if that happened they’d probably be fourth behind Hawayek/Baker anyway).

You are not in wrong with that - the only chance I see for them now is them winning IdF with better score than Zagorski/Guerreiro overall (if Russians will win NHK). Winning IdF seems now crucial...The most frustrating thing is that they buried that RD and their assignments being the toughest possible, looking at fields...

Wait, actually, I now realize, this actually kind of has the opposite effect. I was thinking of this still as three teams competing for the two remaining spots, but there are actually three spots now, since P/C won’t be in the Final.

So Piper/Paul actually don’t need gold at IdF, they need silver and a higher combined score than whichever of Z/G and H/B comes second at NHK:

1. Hubbell/Donohue (1+1)
2. Stepanova/Bukin (1+1/2)
3. Guignard/Fabbri (2+2)

And then some combination of:

Zahorski/Guerreiro (3+1/2)
Sinitsina/Katsalapov (2+1/2/3)
Gilles/Poirier (3+1/2)
Hawayek/Baker (1/2+1/2/3)

Wang/Liu have a chance at bronze here now. Although it was back in August, they did beat the Parsons at Asian Open, so if they improve upon their SC outing, it could happen for them.
