Ushakova and Nekrasov seem untouchable for the win here, but seems like the other two podium places could be very competitive.

Hard to see anybody other than Ushakova and Nekrasov taking gold here, barring catastrophe.

Most interesting to me, based on the list of personal bests posted by AlexRus in the other thread, is that the Ukrainian team has the second-highest personal best in the group. Potentially, then, we'll have our first ice dance medalists in this Grand Prix circuit from a country other than Russia/Canada/the USA.

BTW, the AZE judge is Yuri Kliushnikov, who used to judge for UKR. Guess he's now being 'loaned' to AZE.

This is a brand new team this season. The score above belonged to Stairs & Royer.

Popova & Byelikov got that score in seniors last season where the base value was much higher than for last year's junior programs. They earned it at a Challenger. (Ukraine had a second spot at Europeans so P&B did both juniors and seniors last year). Popova & Byelikov's score at Junior Worlds, where they skated quite well, was 125.26, which I think gives one a better idea of where they are.
