Frankly, I think the current ice dancing field is more level. I could see that D/W and V/M were clearly a level above the field when they competed, but I don't think this is the case with P/C, at least not yet. You may be correct that the judges cut them more slack than other teams when calling levels, GOE, etc., and you may prefer their style and choreo to others, but "another level"? Sorry I don't see it.
The arena announcer's mouth attempted a level 4 dance lift with her tongue the first time she tried to pronounce Kavita and Panagiotis's names. She got -3 GOE across the board.
Well, I think these two have done themselves proud in their first year together (and in his first year ever as a dancer). I do think they could benefit from a lift specialist going into next year. Otherwise I remain excited by their potential and look forward to seeing what they can do going forward!
Now that the Germans have gotten that out of their system, let's hope they're given a better, more interesting program. Igor at his most cut and paste. And they really have potential, these two. Keeping an eye on them for the future.
